Needed, coin dealer recommendations for Los Angeles by
[email protected]
Hi All,
I need your advice and recommendations. I have inherited a coin
collection which includes mint sets and Mexican silver coins that I
would like to dispose of. Since I know nothing about coin collecting,
I am easy prey to unscrupulous dealers. What I am looking for from you
is...

What's been going on with coins in the last 5 years? by
Koz
Hey all,
I've been away from the hobby since around 2001. Just wondering if
anything big has happened since I've been gone. It seems like the
state quarter buzz has died down around here. The last big stuff I
recall was when they auctioned off that 1933 Double Eagle and finally
surpassed the...

Accuracy in coin rolls, question? by
[email protected]
Hi everyone,
Recently I decided to buy a coin roller, but unfortunately to my
disappointment, I have found the accuracy to be very much wanting. In
rolls of pennies, sometimes I have counted 48 pennies, other times 51.
Do you find the same in these automatic machines? How do you roll your
coins?...

Bob
Relations have been pretty tense in recent years between archaeologists
and coin collectors, and as for archaeologists and treasure hunters
(metal detectorists)--don't ask! It seems as though the buying and
selling of ancient and medieval coins is invariably referred to by the
media as "the...

Cleaning the gunk off by
[email protected]
Hi All,
In case someone doesn't know, I collect circulated coins and pick
out special things I see. I was going through some qtrs, found a
beautiful rainbow toned Florida coin. When I turned it over, seems to
have some kind of gunk on it. I can see the toning under the gunk, so I
know it's there....

Plane vs. Plain by
Mr. Jaggers
In the announcement story for the new gold buffalo, the columnist discusses
the two designs of the original buffalo nickel by telling us that on the
second variety, the buffalo is on a plain. I grew up with the notion that
he is on a plane. Which is proper (please, no comedians, I'm...
