The Penny -- National Public Radio (Market Place Story) by Arizona Coin Collector
Hello I was listening to National Public Radio (Market Place), when a story came up on the Penny. The story can be found on the link shown below. http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/02/18/penny/ I totally disagree with Dan Drezner remarks in getting rid of the Penny. If a piece...

FA: 1838 Coronet Large Cent EF detail $69 by Ira
This piece just in. Hard, dark chocolate surfaces with no trace of corrosion. A couple of reverse rim bumps and obv. rim nicks prompt me to price at $69 with no reserve. Quite an affordable early cent. See it at: http://cgi.ebay.com/1838-Coronet-Large-Cent-VF-No-Reserve_W0QQitemZ250219177583 Ira

Grading/pricing reference for nickels by Slor
I'm coming out of lurk mode just for a couple questions. Please bear with me since I haven't kept up with the collecting community for a number of years. :) - First, is the red book considered to be an accurate pricing guide these days, or is there some other specific reference that is more...

PAK Grading by dave a
With all the recent talk about grading services, I thought it would be the ideal time to ask a question of the group. I have recently been selling off my old Jefferson Nickel collection on eBay and discovered two 3x5 index cards labeled "PAK GRADING CERTIFICATE" with a very accurate and...

Eric Newman's new book on the Fugio Cent by 1787[_2_]
Opinions are my own. I am not affiliated with anyone mentioned below. Until now the classic references for attributing the die varieties of the Fugio Cent have been Alan Kessler's "The Fugio Cents" (1976) and Eric P. Newman's "The 1776 Continental Currency Coinage, Varieties of the Fugio Cent"...

Looking for collectors of German coins in Australia by Andy[_3_]
Hi there, I'm looking for collectors of German coins who live in Australia to swap small coins with. I personally collect most small stuff from 1871 to 2001 and want to fill some holes in some of my series. I also have a lot of spares sitting around and figure that these could help fill holes...

Foreign loose change by Dave[_8_]
I did a lot of traveling in the '80s and '90s, mostly to Europe and Hong Kong. I always came home with change in my pocket and tossed it in a box. Today, I sorted it out and I see that I have about $20 face value of loose change. Now that the Euro has replaced many of these demoninations, I...

Square Pacific Coin? by Coffee's For Closers
I recently bought a 2003 Cook Islands two-dollar piece. For just one, obvious reason. It's triangular. Sorry, I don't have any pix yet, but, the obverse is the Queen (the elderly, grumpy version), and the reverse design looks like a table with a vase on it. The corners are rounded, and the...

Other Auction Houses by Dave[_8_]
I've only been reading RCC for a couple of months, but I've noticed that while there is lots of discussion of eBay, there is virtually no discussion of Teletrade or Heritage. Why is this? I've been selling my old coin collection on eBay and am pretty happy, but I've been holding off on some...
