Is it possible to use a FP on U.S. national flights? by Paul K
I travel with fountain pens all the time. I normally put my pen in my suit jacket pocket (or inside my shoe) which, of course, goes through the screening machine. I've also (in a moment of forgetfulness) have passed through the personal screening apparatus without setting-off any alarms or the...

Is it possible to use a FP on U.S. national flights? by BL
Thomas Hosack wrote: How is that in the USA? Are FP considered "deadly weapons" and have I to throw away my $1.000 FP if they find it on me? I've carried many fountain pens on board. In fact, back when I was attending shows regularly, we'd carry small suitcases full of them on board. If...

Is it possible to use a FP on U.S. national flights? by Jeff Miars
Thomas Hosack wrote: Hello Since the 9/11 hysteria there are stronger regulations in air traveling, especially in the USA. Here in Europe regulations are more strict since 9/11 but still relatively relaxed. But today I cannot anymore carry my Swiss army knife with me here in Europe. I...

pen carrying case/pouch by Chuck Kalus
I see many leather cases designed to carry one or two pens but they all seem to be designed to slip into a pocket......too bulky for my taste. Has anyone found a pen holder that can be worn on a mans belt? It could have a slot that a belt slides thru and thus would be easily accessible, while...

Lower prices for Sheaffer "O" Rings from Tryphon by Giovanni Abrate
We have lowered the price of our "O" rings and Point Holder Gaskets for Sheaffer Touchdowns and Snorkels. By popular demand we also added longer-lasting Ethylene-Propylene "O" Rings and seals and also now offer wear-resistant Fluorocarbon Point Holder Gaskets and seals. And we still have the lowest...

Big ink??? by Neill Currie
Strange question... Inside many of my fountain pens there seems to be quite a bit of extra space inside the barrel for a larger size ink cartridge/piston filler than usually comes standard. Does anyone know of anything that has been made that utilises the extra capacity?? Anything that fits Parker...

Invitation to write for the Pennant by [email protected]
Fellow Collectors, We are gathering up articles for the Spring and Summer issues of the Pennant and have put together a schedule for three 2006 issues, all to be printed and delivered in 2006. I am really pleased with the large number of people who have shown interest, and some already have...

teNeues notebooks by Satan Motors
Has anyone ever tried teNeues notebooks? They've jumped on the moleskine bandwagon, it seems. They seem a bit cumbersome, and a bit too large for my taste, but I'm curious about how fountain-pen friendly their paper is. Any comments?

Truly "automatic" pencil?? by Neill Currie
So, maybe 25 years ago I saw a mechanical pencil, possibly made by Staedler or Rotring, that was billed as "Fully Automatic". By this I took it that you didn't need to advance the lead at all: that it maybe advanced itself by the variance in writing pressure?? Does anyone have any recollection of...

Parker Reflex - discontinued by Bluesea
Weel, Parker's discontinued the Reflex, a great starter/school pen for only $7 or so. What do I recommend now that's a truly decent fp for less than $10 that's not a disposable? And, now that the line is discontinued, I learn that there were Reflex mechanical pencils other than stainless steel! :(

What are pressure bars made out of? by Charles Ackerman
The pressure bars used to depress ink sacs in fountain pens - are they made out of tin or spring steel? They seem to have some spring to them, but they also seem lighter than steel. Does anyone out there know?

Pen recommendations? by Fredrik Glöckner
I'd like to solicit recommendations for a pen to get for "corporate use", i.e., a $100-200 nice pen which is nice, well made, and pleasant to write with. Now, I don't want to start a huge discussion about the merit of various brands, but my point is that I would like to stay away from what appears...

Orange Ink by kmk
Hello, I have been using orange ink for correcting papers about 3 years now. Up until recently it has always been Herbin Orange Indien - a little on the thin side but I like it. I recently purchased a bottle of PRI Orange Crush and was very disappointed. It is a dark muddy brown - a red brown -...

Okay, if you search this list and other discussion forums you'll find recommendations (coming from Nathan Noodler?) that the Kaweco Sport Ink Ball gives the best words-per-volume efficiency in terms of ink usage if you convert it into an eyedropper pen, and seal the inner threads with wax or...
