Refilling Rollerball refills by Neill Currie
I hate paying $5 or so for Retro51 rollerball refills, so I decided to try refilling one to see what might happen. Pulled off the cap opposite the point of the refill using pliers. It came off easy. Down inside seems to be a fibrous insert that holds the ink, and helps regualte the flow. Leave...

Any other Moleskine journals users here? ... by Speedmaster
If not, do you have another brand you prefer? I'm always on the lookout for a similar but cheaper source of journals. ;-) Chris http://amateureconblog.blogspot.com/

My Dip Pen Evaluation by Aaron Hsu[_2_]
Well, so I bought some simple, cheap new old stock dip pens with flexible medium nibs to test. Since I couldn't really find a good fountain pen with a flexible nib that I wanted to invest in at the moment, I decided to give these a try to see what they were like. Painted wood with cork at the...

Would a Namiki Falcon work for me? by Moira Perkins
Hello again, I'm finding good stuff lurking here. Thanks to the resident Pilot Capless fans for pointing out a great pen. What I'm now wondering is: Would a Namiki Falcon work for someone who writes a mundane Scottish cursive, or is this a more extreme pen that is aimed at calligraphers?...

M3 -- More Magnificent Megas by Norman Haase
His Nibs.com update -- M3 -- More Magnificent Megas April 14th, 2007 As I've mentioned before in this space, I originally decided to carry the Monteverde line because of their unique designs...pens that where stylish, inexpensive and broke new ground (such as the Charisma...

Anybody build pens? by The Visitor
Well not totally from scratch. I have built some and they are rather fun to write with. They can be had in varying quality levels. Often with iridium tips and titanium nitride gold plating if desired. I do give some away to friends but I am the only one who really likes fountain pens. I have...

Pelikan M1000 - How many drops does your barrel hold? by LarryW[_3_]
If I draw ink v e r y s l o w l y, my M1000 will release up to 20 drops, but the average is more like 17. For such a large capacity barrel, wouldn't it seem to hold more? The pen was just returned from Chartpak because of this and 2 other complaints (pen was too dry and the nib was a bit too...

Namiki Falcon scratchy by ABC
Just bought a Namiki Falcon Fine, and "flexible" of course. Despite all I have seen on the Web that the Falcon fine nibs are supposed to be smooth, mine is very scratchy---it emits a scratchy sound and feels scratchy. But I really like the variable width of the stroke. I sent it back to the seller...

On Pens and Mishaps by Aaron Hsu[_2_]
So, I learned an important lesson. :-) Always make sure you check your clothing for your very nice pens before washing them. See, if you don't, then it is likely that those nice pens will spill Ink everywhere on your clothes, and may or may not be damaged by the detergent. In my case, it was my...

Aurora Hastil - opinions? by Moira Perkins
Hi acpp, I've been reading about the Aurora Hastil, and looking at a few pictures. It looks remarkably elegant, in a minimalist way. Apparently one is on permanent display in the New York Museum of Modern Art. I'm wondering, though, whether it writes as well as it looks, or if its beauty...

Large reservoir fountain pen recommendations? by [email protected]
Not quite a "collecting" question, per se, but this group turned up nearly every Google Groups "Lamy Safari" hit, so perhaps the query will be excused. I have a Lamy Safari with a converter for using my own choice of ink. Great pen, esp after a few weeks breaking in the nib, but 1.) I ordered a...

Some unknown ink manufacturer: Bril by Juhapekka Tolvanen
I just stumbled accross this: http://www.brilindia.com/ They make fountain pen inks, too: http://www.brilindia.com/penink.htm Do you have any experience with that ink? Can you suggest some retailer or dealer from EU or USA?

Cheap fountain with flexy nib? by bryanska
Hi, I am looking for an affordable (sub-$50) fountain pen with a soft nib. My current Lamy Safari nib is steel and kinda scratchy at times. I tried my co-worker's Pelikan and it was great. I used to have a Waterman Phileas with a gold (plated?) nib, and in both Fine and Medium I liked it a lot....
