Rising price of zinc and the Lincoln cent by
stonej
This week the cost of the metals in a penny rose above 0.8 cents, more
than twice the value of last fall. Because the government spends at
least another six-tenths of a cent - above and beyond the cost of the
metal - to make each penny, it will lose nearly half a cent on each
new one it mints.
The...

why are toned Morgans worth more? by
Mark Reed
I noticed toned Morgans tend to go over price list prices.
Why? Are toned coins more attractive to collectors?
Being new, I look at a toned coin and think "yuck".

How to identify silver clad coin? by
Jane
I have a bunch of Kennedy Half dollars from 1967 and 1968. Most are
clearly copper. I can tell easily from the color of the coin and the
fact that the copper shows through on the edge. However I have four
that appear to be silver. Their color is quite different and the edges
look silver.

Cleaning coins VS leaving the tarnish by
The Space Boss
I found some old coins that I collected as a kid, I even have pennies
from the 1800's and I was wondering should you leave the natural
tarnish on the coins, or should you clean the coins so they all look
shiney and new?
I remember in the 70;s on TV all the time there was this miracle coin
cleaner...

Sorry to post this publicly, but I attempted to reply to your e-mail and your A O L is
sending me a failure notice.
I would say that 65% of the time I cannot communicate with A O L users. I cannot imagine

FA: 1885-O Vam 4 (doubled 18), NGC BU - *BINION COLLECTION* by
Cliff Lawless
Wow, what an addition to any collection! A Vam from the infamous "Binion
Collection". Was Ted Binion murdered for his collection of over 100,000
silver dollars, and a massive hoard of silver bars, stashed in a vault in
the Nevada desert? Sure looks that way. Read that strange story...

ICG by
barbara beardsley
Can someone tell me where ICG stands amongst the graders? I recall reading
that they overgraded on higher MS #s. I have a 1924 Saint that is a beauty,
graded MS-63 by them. How are they on the lower MS #s? I was thinking of
cracking it out and submitting to PCGS... bad idea?

1897-P Vam help by
Cliff Lawless
Hi everyone,
I have an 1897-P with doubled 8 in date that looks like Vam 2 except there's
no doubling visible on the 1. Is it possible that the doubling on the 1
would disappear on a later die state? I have the 3rd edition Vam book and I
also checked the update website, but I don't find a listing...

Jewelry polishing cloth on coins? by
Brian and Cristina Dennison
I read most of the thread regarding not using "TarnX" or chemicals to
clean a coin, however I wonder about those soft flannel cloths you can
buy to polish silver jewelry? Still a no-no? Thanks.
