a "credit card' ( for lack of better word. )
Translating the French on the back it states that the stamp will
corrode when exposed to the air and advises to leave it as received.
When I went to mount it next to the first Silver...

Blair (TC)
If you are collecting Old stamps and covers of India, I can recommend
that you bookmark this on-line document.
It is a Gazetteer of India, published for the East India Company in
1857.
It is most helpful in locating towns mentioned on old covers. The URL

'REBEL' RARITIES
During tlie Civil War the Confederacy was as extravagant in printing stamps
as in printing money; today a good "rebel" stamp can be bought for as little
as 25 cents. But Confederate Provisional—issued by local postmasters from
June 1, .1861, when they quit using U.S. stamps,...

To degum or not to degum by
Tony Clayton[_2_]
I recently purchased a very scarce mint Italian
stamp that completes a difficult mint set - at long last!
(the Victor Emmanuel II set of 1863).
The stamp has clearly been regummed, and was purchased
below the Sassone 'without gum' price.
With a glass the gum is clearly visible on the front of a...

Silver Marianne scan by
Ralphael1
In this case it would be of no advantage to have a scanner..the Silver
stamp does not scan.
I have a scanner, never did master the infernal thing so it sits idly
collecting dust. I haven't tried to install on new computer.
