I admit defeat.... by
Jonathan
I admit defeat. Although I sold about 40 books on ABE last year (out
of a total stock of 200 books listed) I made (after calculating
expenses) a grand total of 17 dollars. The biggest expense that cut

question is: what is...

Jonathan Sachs
Is there a name for the signature of illustrations, usually printed on

Roger Lancelyn Green "Once Long Ago": seeking pages by
Daniel Barrett
My old copy of "Once Long Ago" by Roger Lancelyn Green is missing
two pages:
95-96 (final page of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses")
107-108 (second-last page of "The Dragon of the North")
If some kind soul could send me color scans of these pages, my
daughter and I would be very grateful.
Thank...

in an attempt to bring the group back into alignment with its original
purpose, I'll do what I can.
New users, please make a point of reading the FAQ over before posting.
This is just common courtesy.

Minor Brag - Stalky & Co. by
Francis A. Miniter
I just managed to pick up a first edition (1899) of Kipling's "Stalky & Co." at
a tag sale devoted to books. Condition about VG-. I have noted on occasion that
Kipling used as a logo for himself a swastika like symbol, which sometimes faces
left and sometimes faces right. What did he intend by...

Asmodeus At Large by
Al Smith
I've got an odd little book. "Asmodeus At Large" written "By the
Author" (it is anonymous) but somewhere I discovered that it was
written by Bulwer Lytton. The edition is Carey, Lea & Blanchard of
Philadelphia, 1833. It has a cloth spine, paper label and paper
covers. Does this ring a bell with...

Help with Aristotle (1548) by

I have been trying to get some information on an early printing of
Aristotle's De Republica which I won at an auction 30 years ago. I have
checked all the internet sites with which I am familiar, but I can't find
any reference to it. I suspect I am just not looking in the right place the
right...

I have a book entitled "In the Potter's Hand" published in 1898 by

I can find no mention of this author or book anywhere and wondered
whether anyone can shed any light on this.
I suspect this book is destined for the great book scrapyard in the...
