US Mint's Gold coins sale by
Emica
I'm just wondering why US Mint sells the proof version of Gold coin
to the public (which you can order directly from their web site) but
only sells the uncirculated version to the dealers (which you have to
buy from dealers)?

This guy got fleeced by
Wes Chormicle
This guy comes into the shop today with the coin below that he just won
on eBay. Asks me my opinion. I tell him that I believe it is a
counterfeit. He thinks it is real and wants me to send it to PCGS for
a cross over, minimum MS62.
I asked this guy why on earth would a seller put it in a "self...

Las Vegas pads of currency by
Harv
Hi
I've had some of these before and eBayed them (you can usually get close to
double face for them).. but this one I'm going to keep.
If you find yourself in Las Vegas, go to the main cage at Caesars Palace and
you can buy pads of fifty crisp uncirculated sequentially-numbered notes in
every...

Professor's research supports eliminating penny by
Paul Anderson
Here's a professor at Wake Forest University who thinks that eliminating
the penny is a good thing and will also encourage dollar coin use.
http://www.wfu.edu/wfunews/2006/2006.07.18.w.html
His reasoning for increased dollar coin use is that some cash registers
have only four slots for...

FA: 1808 Spanish Colonial Silver 8 Reales "Piece of Eight" by
Cliff Lawless
Wow what a cool coin!
I've always liked the 8 Reale and this is a very nice example with
attractive toning and a little luster still present. I'm not very
knowledgeable on grading these but I figure this one probably grades in the
F-VF range. Check the pics to access the grade for...

FA: Panama 9 Piece Proof Sets w/HUGE 20 Balboa Coins! by
Nick Knight
I was finally able to get eBay to accept my HTML grin, so I started 5 of
my 6 Panama sets with the big 20 Balboa coin. I'll list the 1978 set, once
I find it. I took it in to work for lunch show-and-tell awhile back, and
I'm not sure where I put it when I brought it back. I'll find it and...

eBay: 20 cent listings - 2 days - 7/20 & 7/21 by
Nick Knight
I found notice of this "by accident". Didn't see anyone else mention it, so
I thought I might spread the word. I just listed some junk DVD's to test
it, and yes, 20 cents. Hmmm. Not sure if this covers any of the fancier
options.
Hopefully I can find the time to take advantage of this and...

USA Today says dump the penny by
Paul Anderson
Even the mainstream media is realizing continuing making the penny makes
no sense. Here's an editorial from USA Today from July 11.

The editorial also has a real-life repudiation of the "rounding to the

FA: Gold Toned 1852 3¢ Silver NGC MS 64 by

Great strike, unusual gold toned Type 1 trime. If you didn't look
closely, you'd think that it was a gold dollar.

I haven't had much luck getting decent prices lately, so this will
probably be my last try with eBay for some...

A nick in the die at 5:30 by
Joe Fischer
http://invisibleairplane.com/cents/bad1.jpg
Had trouble with this with different file name,
hope it works ok now.
I made a little improvement in focus, now I
need to try for a dust free image.
This nicked die is surely a variety, even if
not planned that way, if a hundred...

Change is good by
Stefano MacGregor
I made a small purchase at the 99c store the other day, and paid the
$4.28 that I owed with five golden dollars. In my change, I received a
half-dollar for the first time in oh-so-long. I wonder whether they
did that on purpose.
