Your experience please... by
gogu[_11_]
Hi all!
Since I've recently started collecting stamps (I've collected stamps as a
young boy but randomly and most of them cancelled), I have a few dumb
questions:
1) is there a guide for new collectors like the one for coins "Coin
Collecting for Dummies" or similar?
I want (mostly) to learn the...

storing stamps by
Pedro
Hello friends,
Which is the best way to store thousands of duplicate stamps?, let's say
definitives like Machins or Wildings. Putting them into stockbooks would be
very expensive, I think. I'd like to know hwat do you do when tackling the
task of storing so many stamps.
Thanks,
Pedro

Common Mistakes for Stamp Collectors to Avoid -article by
Sir F.A. Rien
Took me three 'collections' before I 'found' the GB LE period and its
complexities.
Good hunting!
Excuse my ignorance. What does LE stands for?
"Line Engraved" One of the three major methods for producing stamps.
In particular, they concern the Penny Blacks, Reds, Tuppenny Blues...

Euro Zone - pre Euro era stamps valid for postage? by
Blair (TC)
Greetings friends:
I know that France still accepts stamps denominated in Francs and Centimes to pay for postage.
Does this also apply in all or in specific Euro Zone countries?
In such cases, is there an expiry date for using such stamps?
Thank You for any assistance.

Evaluation of Philatelic Websites Revisited by

Ten years ago and earlier this was a hot topic on RCSD, being related to the
then Annual FIP Philatelic Website Evaluations.
The interest for this subject revived this year with the exhibition IPHLA
2012, where the philatelic pages presented on digital media are accepted
again in the...

stamp counterfeits by
Pedro
Hello friends,
Has anybody here heard about a stamp trader called Mauro Spada from
Faenza, Italy? He has sent me some stamps pre-1960 because of an exchange.
None of them is postmarked, but some do not have gum. The ones that have gum
have their gum intact, like new, I think they're regummed....

Franking questions about a letter posted in US by
Victor Manta
The question refers to a letter apparently having the C6 format (4.5 x 6.4 -
have nothing in hand to measure it) that contains just a sheet of paper
(hence low weighted).
It was sent from and to New York City.
I wonder:
- Why was it franked twice, at two different dates?

Hi all!
I'm new in stamps collecting and I have a question that may seem stupid to
you but...;-)
I am on Vatican's mailing list and I received their order form for the
latest stamps.
In the included leaflet for a certain stamp I read:
Valore facciale: 0,60 euros
Foglio da: 10 francobolli

Kosovo Question by
Blair (TC)
Would anyone have information about this stamp?
http://cjoint.com/?BBzeHfgVvAc
It appears to be an issue of the "Republic of Kosova", (not Kosovo),
which existed from 1990-2000.

Gold Francs of the UPU (francs d'or) by
Blair (TC)
A few postings ago, there was a discussion about Gold Francs (francs

Historically the value of the Gold Franc was based on a French law of
1803.
1 Gold Franc was set at 10/31 of a gram of gold (.900 fine) or .
