Anyone remember this tool to remove stamps from paper by
A.E. Gelat
Sure, such a box would loosen the stamp from the paper, but what abut the
residual glue? You'll need to wash or soak that off.

jirst Class Stamp by
A.E. Gelat
The US Statue of Liberty 39-cent stamp has recently appeared with the
inscription "First Class". Does that imply that this stamp will be valid
for that class indefinitely? I did not find any announcement about that in
the newspapers.

Egypt Zeppelin Overprints by
A.E. Gelat
In 1931, the German Graf Zeppelin flew over Egypt and other countries in the
Near East. Egypt commemorated the flyover by overprinting two stamps "Graf
Zeppelin Avril 1931"
I would appreciate more information about those flights, giving the complete
itinerary, which obviously started in...

Scrambled Indicia by
A.E. Gelat
For Father's Day, I received, among other things, a Stamp Decoder issued by
the US Post Office. When placed over certain stamps, it allows to see the
"scrambled indicia", whatever these are. Can anyone provide information on
what recent stamps have these indicia? I looked at current tamps in...

Fake Messages by
A.E. Gelat
I am one of millions of people that receive fake messages purportedly from
reputable banks and companies that want to obtain some vital information
about myself. The messages are very clever with all the logos, trademarks,
etc., very faithfully copied. The language is very convincing. ...

Will it be CTO? by
A.E. Gelat
I have the US issue of 1, 2 and 4 cent se-tenant trio, with the 4 cents
being the inverted Jenny. I intend to stick them on an envelope, add a
30-cent stamp and mail it to myself. Will that be considered a canceled to
order? CTO means many things: Issued with a cancellation, as many countries
do...

Saudi Arabian Secours by
A.E. Gelat
Sorry, but my previous reply was irrelevant. I wrote of the Egyptian Guerche
instead if the Saudi Guerche. Both are the same, a relic of the old Turkish
currency of 40 paras = 1 guerche. The Saudis did not use the para, but
fractions of the guerche. The 1/8 (one eighth) was thus worth 5 paras. ...

Diego Garcia, BIOT by
A.E. Gelat
The US navy has a very interesting site for the BIOT. It is profusely
illustrated. Among the the photographs is one of the Post Office. It gives
the hours of operation, but no details of what stamps are available.

SG numbers by
A.J Todd
I'm a real newbie and I can't understand why SG catalogue numbers
sometimes aren't consecutive, maybe because alternative colours were
issued later, numbers are left out and
sometimes don't start with 1
I'm sure there is an really obvious explanation but it ain't obvious to me....

Fonts by
A.J Todd
Now that we're in sharing caring Xmas mode someone must know where to
find info. on the fonts used on GV/GVI Commonwealth issues eg the GVI
Ascension.
Must be a traditional one, I would have thought, and, as the font
of all knowledge is here, I appeal again.
I want to do the page album headings...

fonts used in stamp design by
A.J Todd
I'm interested in the fonts used on old stamps ie pre QEII.
sometimes they seemed to use two fonts in the country name in the same issue!!
Anyone point me towards something??
As I said before, nice to have the album headings in the same font as
the stamps themselves.
