Feb. 7th Coin World article on Early Proofs by
Bruce C. Goldstein
I would appreciate hearing any candid opinions you might have on the first
of this series of three articles I wrote for Coin World. This issue was
already mailed out and I believe that the next Coin World with part 2 is on
its way through the mail.
Thanks,
Bruce

Ebay auction # 3955777950 by
[email protected]
Ran across this item and wrote the seller informing him that the item
was NOT made of silver, but was a silver plated base
metal replica. He did not respond and has now listed another one. I
note that he charges $19.95 s/h/i and offers a return of your BID PRICE
only if you are dissatisfied. ...

Look Who's Back selling Counterfeit Coins on EBAY! by
Arizona Coin Collector
This seller. "westcoastpawn" is the same seller that was kicked off of
eBay twice before for selling illegal counterfeit and altered coins.
He was originally called "ewholesalers" before being shut down by eBay
in late December, and then returned as "stellarcoins" for a short while
in early...

The 101 Dumbest Moments in Business (Numismatically Speaking) by
Jerry Dennis
This was too good not to pass on:
10. In fairness, though, they did turn away the $300 with Dennis Kucinich.
A clerk at the Fashion Bug store in Greensburg, Pa., accepts a $200 bill—and
gives the customer $100.58 in change—even though the bill is festooned with
clues that it might not be...

Commemerative coin question by
Russell
Alot of the new issues have the same coin, same mint mark, but one unc
and one proof. Do you guys think both are need for a collection, or
just one example?
Just wondering what the group thinks.

FS: 69 Morgan Dollars by
Wes Chormicle
Here is a group of 69 Morgan dollars. I would like to sell them as a group,
but if no takers, I'll split them up, $960 delivered. (if you want
insurance, it's extra)
At this price, that is under $14 a coin, and remember 3 cc are in this
group. We just did an inventory and we have taken in almost...

What the phuck? by

I don't know how anyone can stand to watch the Coin Vault since they
sapped the charm out of it, but I stopped in for a few minutes just in
time to catch a rather interesting disparity.
The Chambers maids claim to have sold eight complete 86 to 04 runs of

There are so many fake rare coins on ebay, such as this

Anyone familiar with US coins can see that the two "7"s in the date
are of the incorrect style. But people are bidding on it!
But despite dozens of collectors spending hours of...

Finally got my first keelboat nickel! by
Wolley Segap
Unbelievable. After all this time, I got my first keelboat nickel today
in change for my Dijon Turkey/Ham/Bacon sub at Subway in Portland OR.
($6.19, gave him 6 and a quarter.)
You'd think I would have found a damn Lewis & Clark nickel months ago,
here at the end of the Oregon Trail.
Wonder how...

FA - $$ - Last eBay $.99 coin sale for a while by
Glenn Simonelli
This will be my last eBay $.99 sale for a little while. The sale ends
tomorrow. All coins have $.99 opening bids with no reserve. True, this
week most of the coins already have bids, some quite strong, but a few
of them are still under $10.00, and there's a Carausius ant that's still
at $.99 as I...
