Help with Ameripex '86 Souvenirs by
PMATS5
In putting together our Club's Annual "Stamp Out Cancer" auction, I came across
two items I am having trouble identifying and giving an estimate. I am sure
there is someone out there who can help with these items.
1. A 'souvenir page' from Ameripex '86, issued by the Republic of China
(Taiwan). ...

BEWARE-Edmonton Stamp Shows-THEFTS!! by
Bob Ingraham
I suppose we should worry about the mental health of the person or persons
who fritter away what creativity they have by producing this drivel, but,
personally, I'm spending too much time with stamps to worry about them. They
really ought to try stamp collecting. It is a most salutary hobby, and...

Stamps on Films: "The Lost Prince" by
Chris Doran
Seen on UK TV tonight: KGV trying to interest his son, Prince John, in
the royal collection. As usual, I didn't hit the record button fast
enough, but as well as a room with open albums scattered precariously
around, the scene included closeups of (I think) a 2d blue QV
Mauritius and a pair of red...

I'm a newbie... by
J. Hugh Sullivan
....well, not really - just new to this news group. I've collected
since 1941 but still have more questions than answers. My main
interest is staying current with US MNH issues and anything world
wide. I am a pure collector in that I don't keep duplicates and I
don't sell what I possess.
I dl'ed...

US Veterans of Foreign Wars Stamp by
Victor Manta
I have seen by chance in Scott the stamp 1525, issued March 11th, 1974, and
dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
organization.
Quite interesting, because the only non-foreign US American war that I can
remember was the Civil (Secession, Rebellion) War, one that...

Use of FDC already cancelled stamps by
Pierre Courtiade
A friend of me asks (in the French speaking philatelic news-group :
fr.rec.philatelie) the following question.
Is it allowed to use a cover, cancelled with a FDC type cancel, later
than the FDC date ?
He gives this example of such a bizarre usage...

Wax Museum of Illegal Stamps by
Mette
On 19th December I received a telephone call from
Annelise Smith, John Smith's wife, with the sad news
that John had passed away as the result of a heart
failure, only 51 years old. John leaves his wife, Annelise,
2 children and 3 grandchildren behind.
Mrs. Smith has advised me that since she...

Ninety years ago this month, on December 23, 1913, the Congress passed the

Interesting sign I saw in the post office by
JSTONE9352
I went to the post office on Friday to buy stamps and mail something and
noticed the following sign where people wait in line. "Please end all cell
phone conversations before approaching the clerk".
I imagine it is very frustrating trying to wait on someone who is also
jabbering
away on the phone...

Flag coils by
rgnpcs
I recently bought a roll of coil stamps from the post office and
cannot get them apart. It seem that they do not have any holes between
them, so I am using my scissors to cut them apart. I just finished
cutting them all apart, and now I can use them!
