Pelikan by sbsawler
Hi: Any suggestions on how to clean a pelikan nib? I generally take the nib off a pen and leave it in a glass of water or cleaning solution but this doesn't seem like an option with pelikan.

If you are a member of the Long Island Pen Club, please go to the Long Island Pen Club yahoo group to discuss whether the snowy weather will cause a cancellation and rescheduling of this Thursday's (1/27) meeting. A few of our regular members who attend each meeting have said they prefer to read...

Montblanc 146 v Pelikan 800 by [email protected]
I'm in two minds as to whether to buy a Montblanc 146 or a Pelikan 800. I prefer fine nibs in general, because I have quite small writing. Smoothness of writing is definitely the most important consideration for me, as well as general reliability. I'm attracted by the prestige of Montblanc but...

Noodler's New American Eel and Polar Black Inks by Chuck Swisher
With all the talk about Nathan's new American Eel and Polar Black inks, thought you might like to see what these new inks look like. The top half of the swatch samples were done with the fountain pens that I currently have filled with these inks. The scan is a little large, but hopefully you...

Polar Black use during the Polar Blizzard of 2005 by Scaupaug1
The Polar Black ink has been tested by many people throughout the arctic as well as many of our northern states (sometimes as low as -54F in Minn.)....nobody was able to get it to freeze in natural conditions (which were at times more than severe in the arctic). Laboratory freezers reached -110.2...

Caution with Montgomery Stationery by William Bruce
I've just concluded, at my loss, an eBay purchase from Montgomery Stationery of New York. If you choose to buy from them, use caution. They shipped me the wrong pen TWICE and then became rude and difficult when I tried to correct the problem. I now see that they were the subject...

Parker Gold Sonnet Dimonite by Mark LV
I'm thinking of buying a gold Parker Sonnet Dimonite with an 18k solid gold nib from Ebay. The price is good and I understand that these pens are no longer manufactured. Is this a good pen? How does it compare to the high-end MB, Pelikan, Waterman? Thanks.

Sheaffer Targa patterns by Gordon
Does anyone have access to a good source of information on the variety of patterns the Targa was produced in? Andy Lambrou's book is pretty good, but by no means comprehensive as I have several Targas in patterns not described by Andy. These include an Imperial Sterling Silver (as opposed to...
