California Quater Design by
Michael E. Marotta
I could not find this online and my memory has gaps but we had a
record of Larry Parks doing Al Jolson:
interlocution from CALIFORNIA HERE I COME
Valleys and mountains
Rivers and fountains.
Rocks! that are ag-ed and worn.
Acre after acre of the richest soil
A hundred thousand million billions...

FA: Extremely attractive 1922 No D Lincoln PCGS EF-40 by
Ira Stein
This one should be a "45," but for some reason, and I can't discern why, they
graded it only a EF-40. This is the strong reverse variant, the only TRUE 1922
No D cent, and quite scarce in the higher circ grades. The Holy Grail for
Lincoln Cent specialists and scarcer than any other date in this...

Classic Coinage Series by
Ami .
Do you think collectors would be interested if the U.S Mint started a
Classic Coinage silver series?
First up would be a Flowing Hair silver dollar dated 2004. Mintage would
be 250,000 and include individual boxed coin or the coin plus proof.
Following year would be a Draped Bust silver dollar...

Can anyone please identify these by
James Higby
While they appear to be of stone, they are of metal that has badly corroded.
The chalky areas are the caked-on corrosion salts of the host metal, which
is an amalgam of copper and many other impurities. My guess is that the
coins are of Afghan origin. I quote from Coins of the World 1750-1850...

Red Book Question by
Larry Louks
Hi Friends,
I've looked and looked and simply have not been able to locate the meaning
of a piece of data in the Red Book. (It may be as plain as day, but if so,
I've not picked up on it.)
What I refer to is that number that is displayed in parentheses after the
date on many coins that are...

Do Dollar's Woes Affect Your Purchases by
Michael E. Marotta
The dollar has been falling. It is at $1.20 to the Euro. Gold is up
against the dollar. Even the UK Pound is up relative to the
greenback.
Has anyone's internationl transactions been seriously affected?

Ebay: Sour grapes by
Harold Fears
All,
Just a warning to my Internet colleagues out there. Lately, I have had
some bad luck with ebay. I was the winner -- make that high bidder -- on
two "uncirculated" coins (of course, coins from Jersey). The first was
several grades lower than unc , and the second has been dipped in a...

Other worthy collectibles by
Reid Goldsborough
Perhaps there's nothing more subjective than a collectible. Coins are
what this newsgroup is all about, but I've picked up or seen other
fascinating collectibles at coins shows or offered by coin dealers,
including:
* Meteorite found in Russia
* Gold nugget found in western Australia
* Fulgurite...

How's this for a funky bit of packaging? by
A.Gent
OK, its no big deal, but I thought it was kind'a cool.
We like to whinge about inadequate packaging, but get a load of this
other-end-of-the-extreme.
I just received my latest purchase from the 'bay, an 1849 "Godless" florin.
This is a 28mm (inch'n'a bit) coin (thereabouts).
It came packed in a...

FA: 1787 Fugio Cent PCGS VF-30 by
Ira Stein
The first coin authorize by Congress in the fledgling United States. An
absolutely OUTSTANDING planchet...most in this grade are corroded or very dark.
Scrap copper supplied by the US was used for all of the mintage, yet the
contractor who struck them sold most of the copper and fled overseas,...
