Counterfeit challenge (ancients) by
Reid Goldsborough
A week or so ago I asked anyone interested to offer their opinion
about the authenticity of five coins that were each described as
authentic Parion archaic hemidrachms, fascinating coins minted c. 480
BC in Asia Minor and depicting the snake-haired Medusa. These five
coins are illustrated...

St. Louis Coin Show report by
WinWinscenario
I went to the Coin Show yesterday, Saturday. Due to their curious schedule,
they were open Thurs, Fri, Sat, so I went on the last day.
It was a large show, couple of hundred tables, but by Saturday at least half
were empty. Floor traffic was very slow--few customers. The location sucked,
IMHO. ...

ON Topic, California Wildfires/George Kolbe by
Mike Locke
Does anyone know how George Kolbe is doing in the wildfires? His business
is in Crestline/Arrowhead lake area (the middle plume of the 3 in the
current satelite pictures) and situated in a heavily forested hard to access
area. The current news report is 500 homes destroyed in that area.
I...

eBay Problems by
John Mason
I have some of the 1986 3 coin Liberty sets. And then I also have a few of the 2
coin Liberty set. Nothing real spectacular, but valuable none the less. I don't
need them as I never was really into saving gold coins, I would rather go out
and go gold mining and sell it to the ones that want to make...

Proof IHC Question by
Lyntoy1
So yesterday, I am in the official Middle-of-Nowhere, when I run across a house
that doubles as a coin shop. Who can resist? In the middle of AG Walkers and VF
Washingtons the fellow has a PCGS 1872 IHC PR65RB! The coin is a nice mellowed
orange with a slightly shinier area around the date. The...

FA: 1926-S Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS-64 Not to be outdone... by
Ira Stein
The undisputed Key in the Buffalo Nickel series. AUs and better are extremely
scarce and always in demand. $100,000 or so for a MS-65, this MS-64 is about as
good as it gets for most.
See it at:

Bypass the middleman? by
Joe Gugliemino
I'm starting my daughter on collecting world coins, because she thinks
they look neat and because it will involve her in learning about the
world. We've bought a few small lots from people on Ebay. That was OK
initially, but it seems to be relatively expensive given the quality of
the coins we...

Google is poor on newsgroup searches by
John Stone
Google is quite poor in newsgroup searches. I type in "coins" and only
get this one, I know the UK newsgroup is out there.
I type in "Disney" and only get a newsgroup for disney theme parks. I know
there are more Disney newsgroups than that.
Looks like they are ignoring or just making a minimum...

A good number of you took me up on the offer, and I've gotten some pleasant
feedback from a few of you...
