Fake $2.00 bill - funny by
Bob
Subject: The $2 bill
On my way home from the second job I've taken
for the extra holiday cash I need, I stop at
Taco Bell for a quick bite to eat. In my
billfold are a $50 bill and a $2 bill. I
figure that with a $2 bill, I can get
something to eat and not have to worry about
people...

The Samoa Dilemma by
[email protected]
Western was renamed Samoa in 1997. For a time, the SCWPM listed both
"countries". Samoa for issues 1985 and later, and Western Samoa for
pre-1985 issues.
I followed the SCWPM country listing by catologing my collection into
Western Samoa and Samoa. Howevr, the new edition dropped Samoa and
listed...

Brown mold on paper-money by
Gabriel
I have a collection of paper-money, most of which is uncirculated. I
have noticed a brown mold (Fungus ?) on some of the money. Is there a
way to remove that stuff without damaging the bills ?

Took the plunge! by
Lyntoy1
Well, I just did it. I went and bought myself a 1917 US note in CU. I was at a
coin shop to pick up a magazine, and he had some of these large bills that
caught my eye. Its a dandy, IMO! Anyway, I am now in the ranks of paper money
enthusiasts, and have one MORE way to stay broke! Mike

In possesion of Republic of Texas and Confederate paper money.. what next? by
MRE
After my grandmother passing away a few years ago my mother came
across lots of Republic of Texas and Confederate paper money.
Two or three out of the twenty or so Republic of Texas bills have
split in two due to handling, but the rest are in good condition yet
very very brittle. They aren't faded...

Unfounded Concern? by
RAR
Has there ever been a case where a dealer has sold counterfiet large size
US Currency. I would assume since it is still legal tender it would be
illegal to posses such items, even if you identify it as counterfiet. Or
hasn't there been much counterfieting in this area? is the primary...

Old checks.... by
Anonymous Joe
Do old checks from the 1850s-1870s have any numistical value?
Not that I have any, but I worked at a college that had maybe about 100+ of
these old checks, not that they would be willing to sell them, since they
are part of the history.
FWIW, they are all in excellent condition, in terms of a...

Seller on eBay selling large selection of phony errors by
George M
In the past, there have been many sellers selling phony errors on eBay.
Mostly "cutting errors" hand cut from full sheets, (they still sell them),
and various bills with the wrong color seals and serial numbers which have
been chemically treated, (they still sell them). One guy I think makes...

1953 C $2 Dollar Just Like Mint by
Bigdawg
I found a 1953 C $2 Dollar bill a short time ago. Is there any
reference to find out how much I could ask for it? It looks and feels
like it just came off the printing press. If it makes a difference to
anyone it is a series A.

Fractional Currency? by
Whiteleath
Is fractional currency a joke? I found a "one third dollar" bill from 1776. I
mean...its one THIRD!
Also noticed that the signature is "Sam Hillegas" eventhough the first
treasurer of the US was "Michael Hillegas".

Lyntoy1
Hi-
I have seen bills that have Evansville, Indiana (old hometown) printed on them.
I am interested in buying one for a buddy that still lives there. Can someone
guide me on prices and availability on these? Condition need not be choice, but
I don't want trash either. And I don't know what...

What is the purpose of not having >$100? by
Anonymous Joe
Why'd we outlaw the $500+ denominations? Too easy for criminals to carry
large sums of money?
Then again, when was the last time you spent more than $500 on 1 thing or at
1 place and payed cash....
