First Contest of 2005 by
Andrew W Applegarth
I've been meaning to hold a contest for some time... I'm not in a
position to hold the kind of contest I would like to (since my 'start the
year out right' lottery ticket only hit one number), but I thought I
would throw together a small one to start the year.
It's not much, but I pulled some of...

How can I even begin to thank you? by
Chrysta
Many times I have been humbled by the generosity of the people who read
and post here, but this just takes the cake. I haven't been on RCC for
over a month, so imagine my surprise when packages started arriving on
my doorstep today for my little angel...words fail me. Of all the acts
of random...

I have a few surplus modern bi-metallic £2 commemorative issue's i.e.

Another way to speak to Congress about coin redesgin and elimination? by
Padraic Brown
Greetings:
Was listening to a local (Wash, DC) talk show host responding to the
news that certain other talk show hosts are taking money from certain
political parties in return for favorably commenting on said party's
policies. He threatened to sell his services on Ebay (preferably to a

21(?) bankers, 21 dimes by
Bill Krummel
I intended to post this a few days ago, when I first received my January,
2005 "Numismatist".
From the section called "Numismatist news & notes", page 28, one paragraph
from a short article on the 1894-S Barber dime;
"In 1894 San Francisco Mint Superintendent John Daggett ordered only 24
dimes...

"Pure" Collectors sell coins? by
dingodog
I'm curious - do the "Pure" collectors sell coins, or do they just buy
them and keep them forever. If you don't sell, don't know how to sell,
or can't sell, does that make one "Pure" also?

Kennedy Half Question by
Chuck Miller
Is there a good reference that shows the 1974D Doubled Die Obverse? How
pronounced is this and can you easily see it without a loop?
Using a 10X loop I think I can see doubling. But I think that the mind is
trying to trick my eyes.
Just as an aside I picked up 21-40% silvers out of the last...

Question from non-collector by
Tony
I was cleaning out a bunch of my late father's 'junk' a couple of days ago
and came across a jar full of pennys. Nothing seemed special about them
except one. I have pictures of it at
http://jamestperry.home.comcast.net/Penny.htm .
Is this a real penny or a prank? If it is real, is it worth...

What to collect? by
chasd2
First off, Hello to everyone, I'm a newbie here, and have spent the
last couple of weeks reading posts, and digging through the archives.
I rather new to coin collecting. I've always had an interest in older
or unique coins I found in circulation.....ie, wheat pennies, steel
pennies, a few mercury...

1996 SAE Why so pricey? by
chasd2
As I mentioned in my first post, buy a few SAEs got me interested in
coins again.
Doing a bit of research on these, I've noticed the prices for the BU
issue 1996 are much higher than any other year?
I'm sure this has to do with a lower mintage number correct? But I
haven't found the "offcial"...
