Valueing/pricing used stamps by
Grandpa
For the more common and general stamps, is there a general rule of thumb
for assigning a value or selling price to a stamp, like some percentage
of Scott?
As I accumulate at some point I'd like to offer some on either SOR or at
auction for our local club, or to trade for others I need but...

Dakota
Hi gang:
I asked this question in another NG - and it melted into segues that
had nothing to do with the question. I know that never happens here!
;-))

in conjunctionn with my Specialty albums.
I find that Scott Catalogs...

No Reserve, but No Sale! by
Dave
I recently came across this. An seller on eBay boldly put a large
collection up for auction at a starting bid of $.01 and no reserve. After
10 days the auction was cancelled and all bids were cancelled. This is
dispite the claim within the auction that "Once this is gone to the lucky

Q: a stamp on a stamp by
Ron G
I've spent the past few hours scouring AskPhil and a few other choice sites
in a desperate attempt not to flood RCSD with millions of newbie questions
but, well, here comes another one.
Is there a term for the process of pasting one stamp on another stamp to
make a new stamp?
example: ...

UK & French collectors by
HFG
Hello,
you may probably find ships of the line from the Napoleonic area
issued by UK, but you can find them on stamps issued by former British
colonies. There are many series of HMS ships.
For France, you can find only stamps of modern ships, and as UK, the
stamps are issued by overseas territories...

I can't seem to run down your personal address, which I know has been
changed from the one I have. Would you please send me an e-mail so I can let

Papers and Gums by
Tom Loepp
Awhile back in a thread "The Encyclopedia of
Colors of U. S. Postage" was mentioned and
inspired by that I tracked down a set. Now it has
come to my attention that a companion book "The
Papers and Gums of United States Postage Stamps,
1847 - 1909" by the same R. H. White (1983)
exists. Does anyone...

I posted a this last week, except for a few minor changes I made this

know what ideas you have.

Stamps and Technology by
Alan Payne
Evening/Morning/Afternoon All
On the Austrian Stamp Yahoo group, we're having a discussion about
various forms of software in particular, the Michel Perfoscope and
Ez Grader.
I can't see either replacing the perf gauge,
But do others have any experience with using this sort of software?

Question about "no gum" by
I am new to collecting and have been offered stamps sometimes that are
unused and have no gum. What are these stamp all about? Do they hold the
same value as the same stamp with gum? What causes a stamp to have no gum?
Any info will be appreciated.

Destroying excess stamps by

do with millions of old (some quite valuable) revenue stamps given them
by the Internal Revenue Service (the proverbial taxman) years ago.
Although...

GB 2000 Christmas Issue Question by
Jim Pettway
Just for the fun of it (and that's what stamp collecting is to me - fun) I
collect used Great Britain Christmas issues (among many other non-topical
stamps). I need to know what stamps are considered THE Christmas Issue(s)
for the year 2000. I think that it would be Scott 1930 thru 1937. ...

As I was surfing the web tonight I googled for 'postage stamp quiz'

don't know much about them, and after taking several of these quiz's and
snooping at postage stamp trivia, I learned I knew far less than I
thought I did...
