OT, hotmail problems by
oepepper
MSN has changed something on their server and it won't let me send outgoing
mail through outlook express. I can log on but I must first pass several
annoying eye tests or some such nonsense. I get the feeling they want money.
Any other good e-mail places that will work with outlook express? Is...

Survey: What snipe program do you use? by
Eric Babula
I figure it's about time I looked into snipe programs, since I seem to
always be the snipee, and I want to be the sniper! I'm often not around
a computer for auction end, and want to see if these programs will help
me win some auctions I otherwise lose, or don't even attempt to bid on.
I did a...

Added an interesting item to my collection by
Dale Hallmark
Among an unreasonable number and mostly unaffordable amount of other stuff,
I also
collect Austrian medals.
I just won one this evening and look forward to adding it to my collection.

So close!!! by
RF
I received a Fed Res Note yesterday, and ALMOST had a keeper serial number
on it...
it was:
L22114473d
It was pretty well circulated, not really worn tho..
Had it been 22114477, it would have been a keeper.. BUT NOOOOOO!!!
Well, maybe next time!
(I know that even if it had all pairs in a row, it...

California by
Alan Williams
Now more than ever I have the lust for a nice (say, MS-64) California
Commemorative Half Dollar. While I've been to CA many times before,
those trips mainly consisted of flying into a city, spending three days
in the heart of the Metro and flying out again.
This trip was as follows:
Fly into...

Your Other Hobbies? by
Scottishmoney
Occasionally when I was a member of the Diablo Numismatic Society in
California we had an "Other Hobbies" night when we discussed our other non
numismatic hobbies.
Mine are model railroads, primarily the 1920's era Wabash and Southern
Pacific, and also plastic model aircraft, primarily 1920-1940's...

Poll: I don't get it.... by
Mark
All of us who collect coins have our favorites. Personally, I like to
collect Morgans by VAMs.
On the other hand, I am sure we all look at some aspect of the hobby,
and say to ourselves, HUH??!! I don't get it!
For example, I just don't get the registry set craze, especially for
modern business...

Red book question by
Larry Louks
A. Roy wrote:
I know many collect red
books and wonder if the library should move this copy to the
Rare Books room.
I seriously doubt that such features will add even one cent of value to that
book, but like Art Linkletter said many times through many years, "People
are funny."

Placement of obv/rev dies in die presses irrelevant now? by
frank wight
Back in Autumn 2004 I started finding a lot
of Washington Iowa quarters with machine doubling
on the Obverse. Since the new coin presses lay the
dies on their side, does it really matter which
die is the theoretical "top" verses "bottom" ?
One of the reasons why I ask is because I don't
think...

Picture of my most valuable coin by
Wes Chormicle
http://img143.exs.cx/img143/8900/1961d1pr.jpg
I was sorting through an old box of coin "stuff" and found this. What this
is, is the FIRST coin I ever saved. At the age of 10 in 1962 I became a
coin collector. While the "book" value of this piece may not be much, the
sentimental value can not be...
