Dean[_3_]

SG No. 713.
On the bottom is a name looks like T Shemza but on mine the letter T is
missing so it reads Shemza.
I have looked in the Stanley Gibbons book and there is no mention...

Stamp collectors survey by
Deni
Hi fellow stamp collector! I am a grad student working on a business
project within the stamp category. I am hoping to gather some
information about stamp collectors and would appreciate it if you would
take the time to fill in this a quick 11 question survey. Once I
analyze the responses, I...

Louisiana Purchace Exhibition, St Louis World Fair 1904 by
Denis
I am trying to identify two stamps I have, both marked “Louisiana
Purchace Exhibition, St Louis World Fair 1904”. Both are about the size
of a typical commemorative, and they are perforated. There is no
currency value on either of them.
The first is Green, Vertical, and is marked, “Cafe Restaurant...

New U.S. definitives for 39c rate by
Dennis
With the postal rates going up in a few days, the USPS has issued a
non-denominated definitive showing the Statue of Liberty and U.S. flag. I
purchased three varieties at the philatelic window at the Postal Museum the
other day. The current variety is non-denominated with "2006" printed at
the...

A slow let down. by
derbyboi
The opposite sometimes occurs. A very old friend of mine who
specialises in The Territory of New Guinea and Papua, (he is writing a
book on New Guinea and is probably the world's leading philatelic
authority on the Huts and Birds issues) wrote to me enclosing some NWPI
stamps he had found in an old...

A story of Generosity - to warm the heart. by
derbyboi
Some 6 weeks ago I bought a small lot of NWPI overprints of the stamps
of Australia (which happens to be my specialist field)from an
international auction house. Hiding in this lot was what I thought to
be a copy of the first watermark greenish olive Kangaroo (SG76c)- a
rare stamp with a current...

Flags of the World by
derbyboi
An interesting hand illustrated cover from NWPI. There is nothing
special about the stamps other than their "artistic" placement. The
rate is correct. What intrigues me is the flag to the left. On the
right is a fair representation of the Red Ensign, but I have been
unable to identify the other....

Harrisons the Printers by
derbyboi
I wonder (one for you Rodney perhaps)whether there is a genealogical
link between Samuel Harrison, the Doyen of 19th century engravers and
his son John Augustus Charles Harrison who did work for Waterlow's in
the early part of the 20th century including classic KGV UK definitives
and Thomas (TS)...

A slow ladder up! by
derbyboi
I read Tony Clayton's message " a slow let down" with interest as it is
something we all do - I added a short response about the opposite
happening to a friend of mine - they say that lightening doesnt strike
twice but yesterday I recived a small lot I had purchased on e-bay for
$17. It consisted...
