Interesting Find by
Francis A. Miniter
Yesterday at a book sale I picked up this book: Enrichetta
Caracciolo, Mysteries of the Neapolitan Convents (Hale & Co. Hartford CT 1868).
The first American printing was 1867, translated from the Italian work
published in 1864, and apparently extremely popular in Italy at the time, having...

Cheap Bookshelves by
Some Guy
I'm looking for a cheap temporary shelving solution for some books and
was wondering what you all recommend. Here's the situation:
* My domestic partner just bought a bunch of books at auction. Exact
count is unknown but my rough guess is 3000 or so. 90% are standard
paperbacks and the rest...

INFO: What is personalized publicity? by
Cienna
If you're a writer, you know how hard it can be to get exposure for
your creative efforts. If you're affiliated with a publisher, you know
or may soon have cause to find out what it's like to miss getting the
attention and publicity you need due to the cycles of the publishing
season or a failure...

New postage rates? by
David Ames
Visiting the Postal Service web site, I don't see any provision for
Media Mail rates. Everything seems to be Express or Priority mail of
one kind or another. I wonder if UPS rates might be superior as to
cost? I get the impression that USPS rates might be set high in order
to prevent other...

Where is the best library search website? by
RS
I'm wondering what the best library search website is. That is, which
website will look to see what libraries have copies of books.

Private Library Insurance by
[email protected]
Does anyone know of any Canadian companies that would insure a private
library collection of approximately 4000+ books? Alternatively, have
you had any experiences with insuring your private library collection?
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours respectfully,
Boyd Blackwell.

P G Wodehouse question by
Ruth Streeter
I just found a copy of Wodehouse's The Little Warrior. At fist glance
it looks to be a 1st edition, published by George H. Doran, with GDH
on the title page, copyright page dated 1920. I did some digging
online and if I'm correct, this was first published in the US, the
title in the UK under a...

Book Freezing by
Ferris92
I've read a little bit out putting books in the freezer to kill any
insects and stop mold spread. This seems like a good way to introduce
any book into a collection.
My question is, how airtight does the bag have to be? I've been using
ziploc freezer bags that are obviously sealed but not vacumn...
