More Almanacks by
Scrooge
I purhcased at an estate auction yesterday four 18th century almanacks.
I read the posts began by Doug McClure beginning in June of 2004 and they
were very helpful
Does anyone have any information on these in particular?
I will try to track down a copy of Drake's Almanacs (Thanks Jerry) at...

Which would be more collectable? by
Ted Jones
While researching one of my other interests, I found this book value
comparison. While the one unavailable on Amazon U.K.must be rarer, the
obvious value of the other one makes me think that it will endure as the
more valuable book.

Illustrations of "The Wind in the Willows". by
Adam Funk
In the thread in November when I asked for advice about the Folio
Society, someone mentioned finding their choice of illustrations
strange.
I've noticed that their catalogue includes an edition of "The Wind in
the Willow" illustrated by Charles van Sandwick. The illustrations in
the catalogue...

National Book Festival, Washington DC by
collectmania
This annual event is being held in the nation's capital in September. Has
anyone heard about any authors who have committed to attend, or is it too
early yet to know? The bookfest website didn't have any details on it site
yet for 2006.

McMurtry collectors (?) by
Denton Taylor
Greetings all:
I picked up, at a library sale, an inscribed copy of Larry McMurtry's
"Some Can Whistle". The inscription looks interesting and I wonder if
any McMurtry collectors would recognize the association.
You can see a photo at

Internet BookSelling by
Willow Arune
After months if not years of thinking about it, it seems to be time...
An ardent book collector for years, I am not looking at starting a bookstore
on the Internet - modern firsts only.
So, sage members, some questions:
1. There is lots of software out there. HOMEBASE is nice as it is...

Any Mark Twain buffs? by
John R. Yamamoto-Wilson
Apparently Mark Twain's bawdy short story "1601" was published in Japan. In
fact, from what I can gather, it may have been first published there. So
far, however, the sources I have been able to lay my hands on haven't given
specific details of where it appeared, or who published it. Can anyone...

minor brag by
Francis A. Miniter
Yesterday at a thrift shop for $0.50 plus tax of $0.03, I picked up Elizabeth
George's first novel "A Great Deliverance", first edition, first printing, fine
in fine jacket, no marks. I have been looking for it for some time and am very
pleased.
