2004 U.S. Mint sets - what happened? by
Paul Robertz
In today's mail I received two identical advertisements from the U.S.
Mint. Each included descriptions and order forms for the 2004 silver
proof sets and 2004 U.S. Mint Uncirculated Coin sets.
When I went to www.usmint.gov a few minutes later, I saw that this
years' mint sets were listed in both...

Wisconsin Qs by
Ken Lane
Just got a roll of the new Wisconin Qs at my bank. The MINT did better
on these -good mirror surfaces - nice clean strikes - MS 60 +
throughout this D roll!!! Unusual. - But then the Denver Mint seems to
do better than the Philly Mint in that regard. - What's your take on
the Qs for this year? -Ken

L&C Coin & Pouch Set arrives at last! by
Rick Thomas
Anyone have a story to tell about their Lewis & Clark Coin
and Pouch Set? Well, after placing my order on Sept. 16, I
FINALLY rec'd mine today. Why did I bother? I usually just
purchase U.S. Mint commemorative coins in their cheapest,
"default" packaging and just leave them that way (I have...

20 Coins I'd Like to See by
Keith Fletcher
I have some coins to submit to PCGS and finally joined the collectors club.
This gave me access to the PCGS pop reports. It is easy -- VERY easy -- to
get lost in them. Here are some surprises (and wonder coins):
SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD THERE ARE (GRADED BY PCGS):
1. One MS-67 BN chain...

Coins (et cetra) in Non-Coin Books by
Michael E. Marotta
I bought a copy of Bronowski's THE ASCENT OF MAN. (Mine is in a box
in a storage unit. This was 75 cents at a library sale.) The book has
several illustrations of coins to support the text. Following page
134 is a Xhruso II gold coin. A nice big Wilkinson silver is on page
174. Another...

I don't need such an item, but it was an item that had no reserve so I bid
$5. Someone else bid $6 and I bid $7. Etc., etc.
