Young Johnny had to sit a geography lesson at school naming places in the world.
According to his teacher, he failed miserably, until Johnny showd the teacher his
postmark collection to prove he was correct. The questions were Athens is ...? etc.
Johnny's answers were as follows:

Nigeria queries. by

I wonder if SG lists the 1965 animals set
twice, one issue has "NSP&M Co" opposite the designers name under the stamp design,
and also if the "crowned cranes" issue lists the stroke of the 1 shilling and thruppence missing?

Thanks for any help.

Bulgaria 1956 National Theatre issue by
Nick Bridgwater[_2_]
Looking at my Gibbons & Michel catalogues, they both have the 16th November
1956 issue as the Centenary of the National Theatre, however when I look on
Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Vazov_National_Theatre) I see
an article that says the theatre was founded in 1904.
The picture in...

Hello.
Can someone say something about this fieldpost letter? Quite unusual,
isn't it? It is obviously used during WWI in 1918, sent from Malta to GB.
http://666kb.com/i/bc8jtb9nvbveenz3l.jpg
Same aplies to this censormark - I found some similar, but not quite
that one in that shape.

I cannot find these 1943 issues with the protective coating overprint tinting.
I can see them as "Liberation" overprints or uncoated only.

Stamps from the "Land of upright people" by
rodney
Some stamps are lonely, and get very little air time.
This may address some of those.
With a country Capital name of "Ouagadougou" the stamps must be beautiful.

My Scott lists only a violet and blue. The one on the left is definitely a
red violet and blue but I can find no mention of it in Scott. Perhaps
someone with a different catalogue can comment. Peut-être quelqu'un avec un
catalogue Yvert ....
TIA

Anyone able to speculate what these two "notches"
in a Jubilee line would indicate?
As never ever seeing a printing plate, it is hard to even guess.

It's Cinderella time~The only stamp to bear a royal signature. by

Another ravishing beauty from that master printer from Guernsey.
(who, by the way, used to sell straw hats, and once went bankrupt and was sent to prison)
The Prince of Wales's Hospital Fund
cancelled July 28th 1897 at Finsbury Park (the rest is illegible to me)
Recess printing was carried out...
