Looking forward to the Miami Pen Show, July 7-9 by
Joe Engel
Hi folks,
It looks like this year's Miami Pen & Watch Show, July 7-9, is going to
be a good one. This is the second year that Bertram's Inkwell has
hosted this show. It's a purposely small show-about 100 tables-and
Bert and Jim have decided to keep it that way. It's also probably the
most elegant...

WARNING: Noodler's Inks by
~shit-magnet~
These inks may not be the best for medium and/or fine nibbed pens. I
have experienced drying and clogging of both a Waterman and Romet
medium, both newer pens. Because the higher concentration of pigment
in Noodlers, the stroke-line looks better when used with fine and
medium nibs but be prepared...

Is it safe to post your pen? by
Aaron Hsu
Hello all, I really love high quality fountain pens, but I am afraid I
am still ignorant of some of the more importance maintainance and care
common practices. I happen to like Mont Blanc's and their balance and
nibs, but, I noticed when I went to the boutique, one of the ladies
was particularly...

Designer rolling ball pens by
[email protected]
I am slowly collecting an assortment for pens ranging from $5 to $150.
I am, however, surprised at the lack of information there are about the
hierarchy of pens, which pens hold their value, which ones are a waste
of money, etc. The Internet has made pen buying easier where before we
were limited...

Can You tell the difference by
[email protected]
Hi All;
I recently started using fountain pens. I have nine at last count.
They all have their personalities. The most expensive was about
$160. It right very nice and maybe better than a $100 pen.
Question I have is a $300 pen really write three times nicer than a
$100 pen? I don't think I am...

Ruined Nib?! by
help-slip-franklin
I think I've ruined the nib on my newest pen. A while back I posted about it
being scratchy, ect... and tried to fix the problem myself rather than take
it to a repairman. I tried to polish the nib on a penny and have made it
incredibly worse, now it's scratchy and it skips! I guess I shouldn't...

Vintage sheaffer by
Crewman Tapote
I picked up an old sheaffer fountain pen in a shop today -- 14kt nib, and
what apparently is called the "touchdown filler" system -- I'm not the
biggest expert, and haven't seen or heard of this system until today. The
pen is currently soaking in warm water. Oddly, it appears that its last fill
of...

Pen Sai Brevatta by
CyCounsel
Has anyone ever come accross one of these pens? - Pen Sai Brevatta
Got one off e-bay, its a really great looking vintage pen. Can't
figure out what the fill mechanism is. It may simply be an eyedropper.
Your thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Handmade Wooden Pens by
nick child
Each writing instrument that I create is individually hand turned on a lathe
using the finest woods and other materials. I do not use automatic or
duplicating equipment, therefore no two are exactly alike. I craft using
various exotic as well as domestic hardwoods and acrylics. All instruments
have...

Any other good hand-turned pen manufacturers? by
[email protected]
I recently started collecting fountain pens, and I find myself
collecting different pens for different writing "situations".
Recently I bought a few pens on Ebay that were hand turned. One uses
the Gentlemen kit and one the Jr. kit. They both have steel nibs, but I
love the way they both write....

Scratchy while writing with fountain pen upside down by
Blarneystone
Hi,
My pen writes great with a medium tip if I hold it traditionally. If I
hold it with the nib upside down, the pen writes a fine line which I'd
like to have occasionally. But it's very scratchy.
How could I fix it so I can write with the nib upside down?

Seeking opinions onthe Namiki "Falcon" by
Gordon Mattingly
I am considering the purchase of a Namiki Falcon. I am specifically
interested in the flexibility of the nib. I prefer a fine. Does anyone out
there have experience with this pen? I own a vanishing point which has
become a favorite pocket pen of mine so I'm already sold on Pilot/Namiki as
a quality...
