A question coming from a french speaking newsgroup on collections
news:fr.rec.collections
Somebody found this object :

Diameter 17 to 20 mm
Thickness .8 to 1 mm
The weight leads to think it is metallic (brass or bronze due to the
colour)

Precancelled US by
Graham Gilbert
I have stumbled across a US postage Due (Sc D82) bearing a precancel from
Columbus Ohio. Why, pray tell, would the post office precancel these (when
logic tells you they really don't even need to be cancelled, as they serve
no purpose for re-use as postage) and how common would this practice...

Scott id weird by
Ralphael1
I have two stamps with United We Stand topic on the face.
One from Mustique and the other Palm Island Island.
Scott lists Mustique but not Palm Island.
I would like to include date of issue for the Palm Island stamp.
Anyone have a catalog listing Palm Island?
Thanks,
Ralphael, the OLD one

Hello
http://www.cijoint.fr/cjlink.php?file=cj200902/cijQsy5mkp.jpg
This stamp should be the 35 of SG.
It is described as 1 shilling yellow green and imperf.
I think it is just green and there is a perf, it seems a very bad
private perf, you can see down.
Are these characteristics mentioned in...

French Catalogue by
Tony Clayton[_2_]
I have just bought a copy of the Maury Cérès & Dallay
catalogue of France, which seems particularly good value,
being cheaper than the SG version (although it only deals
with France itself) and also Yvert
It seems very detailed (which I like), and wonder if
anyone from France would like to...

Air Mail by
Ralphael1
AFIK Air Mail stamps are just about a thing of the past. USPS does
occasionally issue a Air Mail stamp, are there any others?
I think all mail within the US is transported by air on commercial air
liners.
Next question; does International Letter Mail travel via air?
Who knows air?

Stamps web site by
Stan Fairchild
MicroSoft has improved its service by eliminating its free web sites. (Well,
that's the claim anyway!) I've opted for the new host suggested by
MicroSoft, Multiply. If you are looking for my site, go to:

The "facebook" of stamp collectors and philatelists by
Svend Waever
www.myphilately.com has been called the "facebook" of stamp collectors and
philatelists, and rightly so. My Philately is a social networking website,
not a bulletin board, not a forum, not a newsgroup. If you would like the
definition of social networking websites take a look at...

No more ban? by
Ralphael1
A few weeks back I found stamps of North Korea for sale on the
American market. Then yesterday I found stamps of Iran available in
America, no Cuba yet.
Has the embargo on these stamps been lifted?

Another USPS burp by

Postmaster General John E. Potter tells Congress:
"If current trends continue, we could experience a net loss of $6
Billion or more this fiscal year."
" I reluctantly request that Congress remove the annual appropriation
bill rider, first added in 1983, that requires the Postal Service to
