New: Some Numismatic Related Documents from the States of Jersey by
Harold Fears
All,
I added a few links to documents from the States of Jersey. The best
reading is found in Part 8 of the 2002 Budget. Also, you can learn a little
about the contract with the Westminster Mint for marketing of collectable
coins.
Regards,
Harold

WTB: hand-pulled proof souvenir cards at ANA ... by
Ken Barr
I need to buy a few of the "hand-pulled proof"
(demonstration) souvenir cards from the Bureau
of Engraving and Printing at the ANA show this
week in order to satisfy customer pre-orders.
If you are going to be at the show, have a few
minutes to spare when the drawing is held, and
are somewhat...

Just how long did you want the guy collecting social security, anyway
He's paid his dues, let him collect as
long as he wanted to.
He hadn't come up with a good joke since his 90's

Condition Rarity and the Future by
Steve Ruud
Another query came into my head while reading those "Registry Set
Completers" and other "FINEST GRADED" coins in the Coin World ads...
We all know that there is a preponderance of MS70 (fill in your own
denomination) out there. Probably more MS69s. I don't recall seeing
many modern MS67's or...

It's "Shake and Bake" by
Randy Thompson
And it looks like somebody helped. How did this coin get in an NGC slab?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3036258457&category=3355
So, was this done with a blow torch or in an oven?

I need a primer on modern Norwegian coins by
Jim Seymour
I'll be spending next week in Norway and would like to know what to expect to
get in change. I picked up a 2002 Mint set and see that the denominations
minted a 50 Ore, 1, 5, 10, and 20 Kroner. Do these all circulate?
My SCWC is five years old, so the coins in my mint sets don't quite match...

Where do you get your collection? by
The Numismasochist
I have not found coins of interest at any garage sales. Your best bet
would be Estate sales. Here in Georgia, Flea markets are all over the
place and the larger ones will have a coin guy or two. I have found
good deals on coins at 50% of bid sometimes. If you catch them at the
end of a weekend...

I've caught the commemorative coin bug by
MarkR
Ok, you've all done it, you've got me hooked on the beauty of Commemorative
coins and now I have to have one. And the sad part is, I don't even collect
coins. What commemorative coin should I buy first? And is there a list of
them so I know when I buy my first how many more I have to get to get...

1981S Lincoln Proof Filled or Clear S, What Do I Have? by
The Numismasochist
Finally got around to going through some S Lincoln Proofs for my set
that I got off Ebay quite a while back. The 2004 Redbook shows a
premium price for a filled S in 1981 vs a clear S. Loking at it with
16X the field can't be seen through the loops of the S. It looks as
if the metal of the...

Help on telling repro by
Linda
I sent this earlier but I never saw it post, so please forgive if it is a duplicate, but I'm also not seeing any replies. Can anybody give me a short course in how to tell a good, circulated reproduction of a liberty quarter from the real deal?

Heritage / eBay online live auctions look dangerous.. by
Harv
So I was watching a live Heritage / eBay auction, from Baltimore I think,
online yesterday. I have cable modem but as fast as it is, it's not perfect,
there is often lag, those of you with broadband know the story..
Anyway, you go to their eBay Live auction, register with your eBay ID, and
then...
