NY ABAA Show by Art Layton
Went to the ABAA show in New York City today. Well-attended with about 145 booths and hundreds of visitors. I asked about the special event the night before - $150 preview - and was told the attendance was very low for that. One book I saw today stuck in my mind. Hemingway's "Across the...

No brags from this Book Sale by Art Layton
Went to the Smith College book sale yesterday in New Canaan, CT. Reportedly over 80,000 books for sale. Staff told me they had a record number of books. I looked for several hours and saw nothing worth buying even for $1. Ran into a book dealer friend who had found little of interest or value....

Does anyone else collect books about the Vietnam Conflict? by Art Layton
Does anyone else collect books about the Vietnam conflict? I do, and I am interested in what you feel are the most valuable or important books you have collected. Where do you get your books? I guess I should answer these questions first myself. Among fiction, I have enjoyed and placed the highest...

Book size by
Is the size of a book given as the size of its pages or the size of its boards? I see many book dealers on the internet using board size but, for ex. The Limited Editions Club describes its books using the page size.

1884 huckleberry finn non-illustrated by Tim Robinson

"Ex-Lib"category : Are their differences? by MTSaler
I recently purchased a first edition of Bradbury's _The Martian Chronicles_. It's an "ex-lib" copy, since the front free endpaper is stamped: "Editorial library copy do not remove from office must be returned to library." But, since it's a first edition, first binding state with vg dj, I was happy...

Was it a brag or a near miss? by ann greenfield
About six months ago, I wrote that I had found a first of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game (for a buck at a FOTL sale). Now, I wonder. McBride says that TOR states, "N or FE (m, y) w/ N". My copy says "First TOR printing January, 1985" but there is no number line. The DJ has a price of...
