Book Value? by
[email protected]
I have a number of art books that I would like to attempt to sell. Can anyone tell me the best way to determine the current value? Some are signed first editions and others have tipped in colour plates.
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Cleaning out basement and found my deceased father's complete set of a 1954 edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica. Would like to know if there is any value to these books or not.

An Interesting Coincidence by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
At a book sale today, I picked up two books. One is _The Wandering Jew_
by Eugene Sue, a French author (1804 - 1857), whose acquaintance I had
not previously made. The other is Umberto Eco's latest novel, _The
Prague Cemetery_ , in which, I have just learned, Eugene Sue is a...

Unusual Edition of Kennedy's Profiles in Courage by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
What I picked up today is a copy of the Inaugural Edition of this work
(1961, of course) by Harper & Row. But, it is not cloth bound. Rather
it is beautifully leather bound in brown leather and gold trim. What I
don't know is whether this copy was part of a presentation copy (for
which I...

The Sea Wolf Jack London by
Linda Donnelly
I was at an estate sale today and came across a copy of The Sea Wolf by Jack London. I am new at book collecting , so please pardon my ignorance.
I am having trouble figuring out what it is worth in the market. The copyright says 1903, 1904 and it is followed by "Published October 1904, ...

Upstate NY shopping? by

I'm going up by Cooperstown next week, and spending a day in Hobart, the "book town." Anybody have any suggestions of other places in the area I should hit?

Gixxer5
Hello, I read a few threads and it seems to me that this is the place to ask some questions. I would really appreciate...

Naipaul signature by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
I bought a copy of V. S. Naipaul's The Masque of Africa (2010) at a book
sale a week ago. Last night I looked more carefully at it and found
that the author had signed it on the title page just above his name.
This is the first signature I have of a Nobel Laureate.

A Separate Peace...John Knowles by
Weathers123
I recently found a copy dated 1959....from the International Collectors Library.
Now, I know that most of ICL's books aren't really worth anything.
But, I'm just wondering if "A Separate Peace" might be worth a bit more than some of the others. I know that it is a sought after book...or so I have...

Just Found by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Random House, 1969 first
edition, first printing) in fine condition with fine dust jacket, and no
internal marks.
This has been on my actively sought list for at least a decade. And I
found it at a thrift store.

D.C. bookshops? by
J[_2_]
Can anyone give me some hints? I'll be in Washington for a weekend
with friends, but expect to have some time when I can be shopping on
my own. I recall that there were some nice shops near Dupont Circle,
but it's been a long time since I was there, and I imagine that (like
in most cities) many...

Book Auction by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
A week ago, I went to a book auction in New London, Connecticut. It was
of the type they call a "pick auction". There were thousands of books,
divided up onto separate tables for each source (estate, dealer, etc.)
and the potential buyers put together lots of up to ten items per lot on
which...

Sir Walter Scott, Religious Discourses, By A Layman by
Francis A. Miniter[_2_]
I know, a strange thing for him to have written. I found this last
Saturday inexpensively at a college library sale. It is a first
edition, which he wrote anonymously. Published by Henry Colburn, London
1828, in full leather, five bands on spine, all edges gilt, no ads at
the end. ...
