Cataloging the Collection: Who does it? by
Rodins Balzac
I have been cataloging my collection in an Access database. Anyone else use an
electronic catalog system? Do you design your own or use some special piece of
software?
How do sellers and collectors catalog sets? For instance: The Complete Works
of Dickens. Do you use only one entry for all 22...

Is Selling USed on Amazon Rigged? by
callmekilo
Almost everytim I list a book there are no other sellers, then
suddently there are six or seven all $1 lower. And when I lower my
price, those six or seven all lower it again to $1 under me. I
appreciate the need for competition in the free market place, but I
wonder is there a bot or something...

Selling Nat'l Geo from 1950's by
midlib
I am a middle school librarian with a limited budget. I have been
granted permission to sell my back issues of Nat'l Geographics to
generate funds for badly needed new materials. My stash goes back to
the mid 1950s and most are in at least "good" shape; almost no maps
remain in them. I'd prefer...

Finally got my keelboat nickle. by
Wolley Segap
Unbelievable. After all this time, I got my first keelboat nickle today
in change for my Dijon Turkey/Ham/Bacon sub at Subway in Portland OR.
($6.19, gave him 6 and a quarter.)
You'd think I would have found a damn Lewis & Clark nickle months ago,
here at the end of the Oregon Trail.
Wonder how...

To Kill a Mockingbird - More than one BCE? by

Six years ago, Jeff Armstrong posted the following list of points of comparison
for a regular edition and a BCE.
"I have a copy of the first edition and one of the BC's as well. I would be
glad to give you as much as I can, but I'm afraid I have no idea what
"detentions" are ... help me...

Must Visit Bookstores in San Francisco? by
William M. Klimon
I hope to have some time tomorrow afternoon to do some booking in San
Francisco. What's your must-visit bookstore in San Francisco?
(I'm more interested in nonfiction than fiction, more scholarly than
popular, more antiquarian than modern.)

New type of library book sale by
Matt J. McCullar
I just happened to stumble across this, and I'm very glad. :)
The Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library have set up an actual store to
sell used/damaged/obsolete books. No longer will they hold massive,
once-a-year booksales at Will Rogers. Fun, yes, but apparently much more
practial to be...

seeking book-repair advice by
Mark Sornson
I recently bought a book from 1856 that
is in pretty good shape for its age, especially
the interior, but the spine needs help.
More specifically, the outer-most layer of
the cover at the hinges is almost gone, which
means there is very little holding the facing
material to the spine. After...

I have a copy teh Encyclopedia Britanica 11 edition in good condition
that is complete except for the index. I know this edition is valuable
but don't know if the missing index completely destroys it value. I'm
not a book collector so i could use a little help.

I have an old children's book published by Ernest Nister in London and
E.P. Dutton in New York. I've been trying to find out when this book
was published. (There's no copyright date printed in it.)
Hunting around the web has produced very little information. I did
find that Ernest Nister died...
