hello again. suppose there is a scott specialized album with mounts on it, your average showgard (I think) black mounts... is it normal that when removing them some of the album paper comes off with it? or can this mean the mounts were not installed properly? if so, how to install properly and...

Colorful -- er -- Spanish postage labels? by Joshua McGee[_3_]
What am I looking at here? http://cjoint.com/data/eqkuCp20Gt.htm These were found in kiloware, and are clearly philatelic. Are these meter/metre postage labels? Are they "official", "semi-official", or "private" (is this a meaningful question?) Are they printed at a post office or from,...

Help with Flemish (Dutch) Word by [email protected]
I just looked up "KAS" and I was translated to "fund". I doubt that was right. I checked other sites and it came closer to "case" or "cabinet". Now, on the bottom of some Antwerp RR stamps, I see KAS Nr. 1 and KAS Nr. 2. Any clues, anyone? Thanks.

German Offices in China by TL
These are my Steiner pages of German Offices in China. I'm still trying to decide on a format to continue with on other collections. I'm not sure I like the black mounts now. I know it would all look better if it was more uniform and neat. I have a hinge-less Lighthouse album also but I want to do...

Photographing stamps? by Joshua McGee[_3_]
This may have come up before.... I want to get images of lots of stamps to put up on Delcampe. Using a scanner works, either with individual stamps or by scanning the whole platen and cutting it up in an image program. But I think a camera with a "macro" mode might be better. Anyone have...

Stamp data storage by Ralphael1
As stated in previous posts I had problems with my stamp files being stored in several places. I couldn't remember which files I had changed on what computer. I decided to store them all on one Flash drive and pull them up to the computer as needed for pdating and then putting them back on...

(RCSD) Ebay query. by rodney
I am not a user of ebay, An offlist member drew my attention to literature I would like to secure, the seller being in Australia. When I selected "ask the seller a question" I was directed to a registration submission from ebay canada? Any ideas why that might be? I wasn't game to continue. R

Any "horsey" people aboard? by Rod
The topic is loosely connected to philately, I am backgrounding the Portuguese coastal settlements of India. In one publication, port access rights were fought over with geat bearing on the exclusivity of import rights to (I think) Spanish horses. One reason given that "horses would not breed in...

Atomic bomb covers and stamps by Don
Ken Martin of the American Philatelic Society is quoted in The Oregenian as saying, "Of the estimated 5.5 million stamp collectors, only about 1,000 collect World War II covers. Collectors of atomic bomb covers are even more specialized and number less than 100." For more on atomic bomb covers and...

Do Not Bend by Rodney
I enjoy receiving covers from Tracy Barber, they are always full of commemoratives, stickers, return stickers, airmail aircraft images, and the obligatory "do not bend", it's almost like reading a book :) Knowing that all mail now receives mechanised handling, it begs the question, are we being...

Results: High resolution stamp photography by Chris Brooks
Awhile back I posted a comment indicating that I was planning to take pictures of stamps and mount them, along with the original, as a form of art. I thought I would follow up with the results of my work. I wanted to get as high a resolution as possible within reason. I used a dslr canon rebel...

eBay Woes - Account Takeover! by jerry warner
I turned to eBay because of a lack of affordable material in my area of collecting - Greece. Things went well for some time except for two bad transactions (alleged payment never received by someone in Hungary) and a floida dealer who dumped pages into a weak manilla folder then blamed me when mint...

New subject; was: Is the Peru stamp legit by A.E. Gelat
This is an example of what happens to a stamp if the postal authority handling it deems it unacceptable. In 1995, the Palestinian Authority (PA) issued a set of three stamps showing stamps of Palestine issued during the British Mandate. The stamps (SG PA 23, 24 and 25), ), showed Rachel's Tomb, a...
