shops in Rome? by
leek
Hi
I am sorry to butt into your newsgroup - but google was only marginally
helpful.
My dad (a stamp collector) will be visiting Rome and be near the
Vatican. He would like to visit a nearby stamp shop while he is there.
Are there any shops? I found http://www.italphil.org/ and sent them a...

Virus Again by
Tracy Barber
Another mental midget -
John Bass
- albeit a pseudonym from an anonymous remailer, has once again sent
out the Gibe virus to many of us here.
Please be cautious about those with a serious intelligence challenged

Can you tell me something about that? by
Bob Ingraham
I can't comment on the value of the stamp. In fact, I can't see the scan
well enough to know what it's supposed to show. An inverted numeral?
In any event, you obviously are not familiar with this newsgroup's charter,
which does not allow the posting of binary images. Please don't post them
here;...

Unusual Trieste Zone B stamp by
Tony Clayton
I went to Stampex in London last week, and picked up an unusual
perforation variety of what is normally a common stamp
(SG B48, Sassone 37, 3 dinar red issued 1st May 1951)
Instead of the normal perf 12.5 all round, it is
perf 12.5 x 11.5 (i.e. 11.5 on the vertical sides)
It looks comb rather...

Update on my eBay problem by
Bob Harper
Some of you may recall my post about an eBay lot I won on 2nd July last from
a seller called www.simplystamps.to also known as Neoteric and based in
Pennsylvania. I continued to press these people to send the goods,
eventually asking for my money back.
I got no response to my request or the three...

State Birds by
JASONST
We are new collectors and filling our store bought album with stamps. We
have bought large lots and have had fun going through them and have a
spattering of just about everything with some large holes.
For example, we notice large sections, generally commemoratives, that have
no stamps in them...

break up full sheets? by
Jasonst
Is it ok to break up a full new sheet of State Birds (50) or State Flags
(50) to put into my Album and to hinge them?
Or should I keep the sheets intact?
Your opinion appreciated,
thank you

Resizing Showguard mounts by
Peter Aitken
I am in the process of mounting my Japan collection using Showguard mounts.
There are lots of different size souvenir sheets and other items, and
Showguard does not make all the sizes I need. I need some way to reduce the
size of a mount. The only method I have seen is a glue pen made by Hawid,
but...

Spain Query by
Rodney
The early issues (1909 King Alfonso) with Alpha numeric numbering on the back,
did each stamp have an individual number, and how was that
accomplished exactly?
As an aside, we are answering a quiz, and need to identify
a stamp with a prayer on the back? Vatican I...

South Africa RSA query/colour omission by
Rodney
I have some used SG#349
2c Wild Heath flowers
(Erica blenna-Ernst de Jong 1973)
These have both the colour red and light green (leaf colour) omitted.
My 1993 Brit C'wealth shows no reference to these.
Can anybody that has a later catalogue substantiate this please.
