Unscrupulous Dealers and Price Gouging in Seattle? by
Stone Mirror (the Great and Terrible)
I own a pristine copy of a volume titled "The Picatrix", published by
Ourobouros Press in 2001 in a limited edition of 1000 copies (mine is
#331). I'm doing an appraisal of the current value of this book, so I
searched Bookfinder to see what was listed there.
There are several copies listed,...

how to decide if you really want it by
Jack Campin
This is a new one on me. Watching a customer in the shop who seemed
undecided about whether he was going to buy something or not (I think
it was a vintage Ordnance Survey map). He was standing in the aisle
swinging his pocket watch over it - pendulum divination. Seems the
pendulum said...

Eaton Press, et al by
mdobson
Hi,
New to the hobby. :-)
I see a lot of books on eBay with the preface "Eaton Press" and
"Franklin Library."
Are these the modern day version of the Reader's Digest books?
Cheers,

1954 Encyclopedia Britannica Value by
Betemer
Can anyone give me some information about the worth of my 1954
Encyclopedia Britannica 23 volume set? It's almost never been used,
and is in good shape. If you can give me any leads on how much it's
worth (or where I can get this information) it would be greatly
appreciated.

Dear Annibale et al,
Here's a link to Goldwater discussing the NYC bookshops of the thirties
and forties. It's from Ralph Dumain's Autododact Project, and is on my
Moi Recommends list. I grew up in New Yorker myself, but didn't start
collecting books until I was stationed in England in the late...

In the 1970s I remember a very large lavishly illustrated book containing the best if Life magazine. However I cannot remember the title, and when I search for "Best of Life" magazine the only result I get is for the much smaller book, "Best of Life" 1973, 294 pages.
Can anyone please help and...

Finally Clearing Up Old Issues - John Pelan's Lie by
Haunted River
It is in no one's interest to have prickly issues grumbling on forever
and a day, so in an attempt to clear up one particularly annoying
dispute, I make this post, in the hope that we can finally resolve the
issue and move onwards to other things.
On the 1st and the 8th February, John Pelan...

Hi,
I'm a bit new to collecting, so forgive me if this is a bit outrageous. Suppose you had a very special copy of a book, say, with an inscription, but the dust jacket was less than fine. If you were able to acquire another copy of the book of the exact edition, with a perfect dust jacket,...
