New $1 Presidential Coins by
Dave C.
As many of you may know, there are plans to temporarily replace the Golden
Sacagewea dollar with the new "Presidential Dollar", starting in 2006. The
program is similar to the State Quarter program, in that it will be a
rotating design, with four new presidents released each year.
It sounds like a...

HELP: eBay Seller - Problem?? by
Zland
I was about to bid on a couple of nice Ancients when I noticed all these
coins had the same 'look'
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=coinoasis&sort=3&page=3&rows=25&since=7&rdir=0
Notice all the bidders identities are private.
The seller's feedback also looked fishy -...

What do you collect? by
reknib
I buy all the mint stuff when it is released. Bought first gold coin
for SWMBO for a necklace last week. I am working on type sets.
Presently on my cent set. Go all the way back so far to an 1850 Large
Cent in VF. I only use VF or better, if I can afford them, so far I
have been able to stick to...

Albanian coin by
Reid Goldsborough
Anybody know this coin, or have access to the Standard Catalog of
World Coins? It's an Albanian 1 lek coin minted during the 1920s
(perhaps other dates too) that features on the obverse a portrait of
Alexander the Great and on the reverse a horse and rider. I'm trying
to find out which years it was...

The $180,000 Nickel story partly solved? by
Paul
My local paper reported the nickels stolen just before Christmas from the
delivery truck were found buried in a 4 foot hole in a Miami, FL backyard.
Still in the original bags, inside a wooden box, covered with plactic.
The driver is still missing. No other details.

FA: some nice collector coins: Buy-it-Now by
[email protected]
I'm trying a slightly different approach: listing my eBays with a
minimum bid and a slightly higher Buy-it-Now price. Still with
high-resolution pictures, so you can see the coin for yourself, compare
to others offered, and decide accordingly.
Out of 11 coins listed yesterday, only 6 are left; ...

"CSA 20 DOLLARS" coin in Super Bowl ad for movie "Sahara" by
[email protected]
There was a movie trailer for "Sahara" (not to be confused with the WW2
Bogart flick) that started out with a glimpse of the Confederate
ironclad Virginia (aka Merrimac) that faded to a shot of a "coin" which
bore the crude legend "CSA/ 20/ DOLLARS" with some ornamentation
around. I have no idea...

Top or Bottom Posting? by
James Higby
Since I have been posting here, I top post 95% of the time. But I know
there are some here who are mightily upset by top posting. I don't expect
unanimity on this issue, but what's anybody's choice and your logic behind
it?
James
'top posting just seems more efficient'

Nevada Quarter by
Wes Chormicle
I saw the new issue of Coin World today and it has the (apparent) winning
design of the State Quarter. A very nice design with a Desert Big Horn
Sheep as the dominate image. Very nice!
Same issue (toward the back) has a more in depth story about the arrest of
the guy who shot and killed the...

Conspiracy Theory: Wisconsin Quarters by
Andrew W Applegarth
Call me crazy, but the coincidence here is just a little too much for
me. Consider...
1) Interest in the state quarter program is dropping, and the mint isn't
seeing the hoarding they want.
2) The first rotated die is found.
3) The first (and second) recognized variety is found.
