PentelEnerGel a huge mess by Steve
I just found your group and read it on regular basis. I'm beginning to look for a pen to purchase, so I'm focusing on your recommendations. Just wanted to pass along. I just bought a cheap Pentel EnerGel pen (blue Ink). I left it in the car for one day (a moderately hot day). When I picked up...

Seeking old-style Rotring 600 ballpoints by Jon Sarche
What can I say? This is the perfect pen, with its nice heft and the cross-hatching at the bottom of the barrel. I can't find any, and was hoping somebody on this group could recommend a source. Levenger had been selling the old style, but it appears they're out. Please help -- I became addicted to...

First time FP buyer/user by ArmsTom
Hey there everyone. I've grown tired of the "5 for $3.97" pens you buy at WalMart and thought I'd give a fountain pen a go. I'm a college student, so cost is a factor. I don't /really/ want to spend above $50. I'm also a complete newbie to foutain pens, so I want something that is relatively...

Ink Question by eb
From a newbie - I moved up from a few cheap fountain pens to a Waterman Phileas with a medium nib, which is terrific. I used one cartridge, and then used the converter. I filled it with black Quink I bought from Staples and am very satisfied with the results. While I'm not looking to change inks, I...

New to the fountain pen world by radarman
I have recently caught the bug and purchased what I think is a Parker Vacumatic circa 1935 or so. I saw it in an antique mall for $14 and thought I'd take a chance. Don't know if it works till I clean it up. The nib is steel color with the Parker arrow in gold and the # 1 at the base. Can anyone...

Ink colours in the past. by Gary
Hi Does anyone know why different coloured inks were used in the past, and for what purpose? Why blue, red and black? Or violet and brown? Many thanks. Gary

Rollabind hand punch vs. desk by KCat
Any opinions on the relative ease of use of these? IOW - the hand punch looks like it would be a pain. But the desk punch is ridiculously expensive (ranging from $55 to $90 on-line.) thanks much. kcat

Noodlers' catfish...why? by svejk
Just got another bottle of Noodler's and I see that now not only does the bottle sport a fancy color label but the bottle comes in a box. And if that weren't swanky enough and clear proof that any day now Nathan will be sending his tanks of ink off to India to be stirred by some unfortuante earning...

quick note on inks by Scaupaug1
A set of tests including ball pens and sharpies... Note Noodler's black is 100% water based ink - fill a pelikan or other visuated chamber pen and rinse it out hundreds of times before your own eyes - see how clean it is....yet watch what happens once the ink dries on cellulose...

Please, Name a no-skip everyday writer FP; M or B nib; piston.. by Mike Dee
Hi Everyone, Could you name a non-exorbitantly priced, 'foolproof' (=non-skipping) fountain pen for everyday writing use? Piston filling or some such thing for using bottled ink would be a bonus, as would a medium or broad nib.

The September Nib Noise has been mailed. by Richard Binder

Right Oblique nib for right-handers? by svejk
I recently gave the opinion on ACPP that a Pelikan 200 with a custom nib would be a great 'foolproof' pen for basic writing. Afterwards I reflected that I might well take my own advice. Going to Richard Binder's site I ordered a Cursive Italic .9mm nib in Right Oblique. Richard's site will tell...
