Louisiana purchase was 1803 not 1804 by
John Stone
Just to correct my previous posting. The Louisiana purchase was in 1803. The year
1804 was the start of the Louis and Clark expedition.

What dat? by
Bill Krummel
I made some coin purchases last month at the coin club meeting, from another
club member in a private transaction, not from the club auction. Hard as it
is to believe, I studied this one coin, a Boone half, considerably before
making the purchase. I had noticed three brown toning spots, evenly...

were all good essays, it was not easy for me to choose just two. To
review, here are the contestants:

If these were your auctions, what would you do? by
Bill Krummel
Two auctions of mine just ended. Ending prices were two to three times what
I expected. The prices skyrocketed in the last minutes of the auctions.
Here are the two bid history pages;

Here is what I know, don't know, and think. Well, I don't...

$1 $2 $200 $500 And $1,000 FRNs by
Malanutt 4 Life
I just thought I would post a message here saying that I may be sending a
letter to congress on redesigning the $1 and $2 FRNs, issuing a new $200 FRN,
and reissuing the $500 FRN, and possibly the $1,000 FRN. I didn't mention the
Balto idea in the letter for those of you who make remarks about it....

Your favorite annual coin show? by
John Stone
What is your favorite annual coin show? If a dealer, maybe you buy or sell a
lot there, as a collector maybe you make good finds, like the atmosphere of the
show or the city etc.
I would ask what is your least favorite coin show but if you really disliked a
show why would you continue to go there?

FA: Some better circulated Barber Dimes by
Paul Robertz
I can blame either the routine bill collectors or the two collectors
who recently sold me key date dimes. Anyway, I finally got around to
selling off some of the better coins from my #2 Barber Dime set. I
still have two complete sets of these, although set #3 now has more
holes. Here's what's up...

Mailing numistmatic items by
Ric Burney
Finally I have been able to get my auctions up and running after a
long, arduous move. I had to mail out a few coins today and went to
one of the new post offices near me. I use #000 bubblemailers for
such shipments and they are insured most of the time. When I got to
the counter, the guy just...
