Handwriting 2: Looped cursive? by
John B. Egger
One of my Christmas gifts was a copy of the Getty and Dubay book "Write
Now," which I'd let people know I would like to receive. But I'm not
sure I care for their "cursive italic." Frankly, I LIKE the "looped
cursive" that I learned as a boy in the 1950s. (The cursive that I
learned doesn't have...

Looking for Ink Eraser by
wjh4er
All,
My daughter brought me home from France a nifty washable ink eraser that I
can't seem to locate here in the US. It is the size of a pencil, white with
blue lettering. On the barrel it says "Reynolds Magic +". On one end is a
white cap under which is a felt nib that contains a bleach-like...

Flexibility in the Pelikan extra fine nib by
Virtual Gordon
I have several Pelikan nibbed pens and have enjoyed them all, but I recently
purchased my first M400 to be equipped with an extra fine nib. I have found
it to be remarkably flexible for a modern pen. Has anyone else had this
experience with the Pelikan EF? I am interested in determining if this is...

Smoothness of black inks, compared to other colors. Why?! by
BigBen
Hi All,
My somewhat limited experience with inks, tells me that black inks are
the smoothest and best flowing of all, without being "watery".
Why, please, if anyone knows the answer?
Other than that: alternatives to Waterman Havana Brown, that make your
scratchy pens feel normal, and your goods...

Sailor 1911 Music tip by
Howie
I was just given a Sailor 1911 fountain pen with the music tip. The thing
barely writes. I've tried the converter with both Montblanc and Skip inks
as well as the refills that came with the pen from Sailor. It *never* just
starts writing and needs all sorts of cajoling to get the ink flowing. ...

Reply to Bruce Herbitter re roller ball pens that use fountain pen ink by
bill7tx
(I've tried to post this six times within the thread where Bruce asked
it, but the replies never appear. Something wrong with Google Groups
apparently.)
You may be thinking of the Pelikan Roller, which uses International
style fountain pen cartridges. Other brands that once had roller ball
pens...

How to dismantle old propelling pencil? by
Richard Wright
This a reworded request that was unanswered.
I have an old propelling pencil (Onoto). You advance the lead by
turning the cone at the writing end.
I want to get the mechanism out so that I can clear the socket that
holds the lead.
My problem is that I can't see how to separate the winding...

Nib polishing with a copper penny by
virgiliopoeta
Here's a safe, easy, simply way to polish your nibs. As always, try
this on a junker first.
Get an old copper penny (pre-1982) and turn it obverse side up on some
paper. The obverse has the Lincoln memorial. The columns of the
memorial make an excellent polishing surface. Zinc pennies aren't...

Bubbles in converter by
Keith Barber
I have a Waterman Phileas which I use with a converter and Noodler's black
ink. When I fill the converter there are bubbles in the ink, I have never
used anything but water to clean the pen. I have also noticed this with
Quink in the same pen, Can anyone suggest a method of preventing this...

Pelikan M400 Clip Ring by
Jmk
Hi all! I received a beautiful Pelikan M400 White Tortoise for
Christmas and have a question. While removing the cap, I noticed that
the clip turns slightly. It seems that the clip ring isn't keyed or
otherwise firmly in place under the button on the top of the cap. If
the cap's button is a press...

Apologies by
virgiliopoeta
For some reason the Google software is not letting me reply to posts,
although I can still post. It's weird.
Happy to know you found my copper polishing method useful, Allen.

2005 - Best value for money (pens, inks, etc) by
BigBen
Hi All,
Which pens, inks, and related itens, did you find were the value for
money during 2005 - not necessarily new in 2005?
Among pens, if I none, and could buy only 1, I wouldn't have a doubt
about choosing a Lamy Safary/Al.
Among inks, regardless of color, my choice would be Black Quink;...

Problems with Private Reserve Ink? by
Argent
I recently visited a pen seller's site that had a note about Private Reserve
inks saying that using them voided the seller's warranty. I've been using
Private Reserve Black Cherry in a couple of my pens and haven't noticed any
problems.
Does anyone have an explanation or caution about...
