FA: 1835 Half Cent with interesting color by Randy Thompson
I wanted to post a link to this coin just to get some comments on it, but since I'm selling it on ebay I decided I really needed the "FA" in the title. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQgotopageZ1QQsassZrfthomps I bought this coin in a lot of five a few years ago. It was the highest grade in the lot,...

Trying to get out of using google by John Stone
I'm trying to get out of google to post to this newsgroup. I'm searching around and with a new one I'm trying it says "480 authentication required for command" before I can get the newsgroup. What exactly does that mean (in laymans terms)?. Does it mean I have to pay?

Silver 2pence coin by Norbert Lieckfeldt
We have just found in a charity collection box a silver 2p coin - I have never come across any of these before. One side gives the Prince of Wales' coat of arms, with the words 'New Pence' above, and a large 2 below. On the reverse side, it's an early profile of the Queen, with the year 1975 and...

Who says coin collecting is in a @#$%&! exploding market upswing?! by frank wight
I've been spending part of the last TWO YEARS buying supergrade coins on ebay...sometimes for peanuts. I religiously go to the bank, buying rolls, filching out the best examples and throwing back the dogs. I'M DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT but never managed to cash in on all the hoopla. Take a look at...

Thracian Gold Hoard Found and Looters abound by Jorg Lueke
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=585&e=1&u=/nm/20041101/sc_nm/bulgaria_archaeology_dc Maybe they should just outlaw collecting and the looting would stop. Or maybe then the looters would just melt down everything and sell it as scrap. It seems to me the most pragmatic solution...

Election Day 2004 and Coins are still King by Dr. Richard L. Hall
Yep! Coins are still king. Of course, I could use a Wisconsin quarter or two. The polling place where I voted this morning in Northern Virginia reminded me of a coin bourse floor during the heyday of the coin market. I've never seen so many people turning out to vote. I would guess there were...

Coin find by John Stone
Found on the floor of the MSU library - 1996 Jamaica 25 cent coin. Portrait of Marcus Garvey on the obverse and what looks like the country seal of Jamaica on the reverse. Copper or copper/zinc? Not sure. Anyway, it is approx. the same size and color of a Lincoln cent but a bit thicker.

1965 South African 5 Cent Coin by Ed Goldberg
I recently found a 1965 South African 5 cent coin. One side has a man's head with "South Africa 1965" on it. The other side has a bird and "5c" on it. I was wondering who the man is and what kind of bird is on this coin? Thanks, -- Edward Goldberg

1882 British Sovereign by Erik Petersen
I bought an 1882M British Sovereign (Victoria, young head) the other day and when I got home I was surprised to find that the obverse/reverse rotation was the same as US coins. Now, every British, Canadian, and Australian coin that I have ever seen were medallion rotation, the opposite of US coins....
